I had a noise in the front end every time I would go over an uneven road, or when I would go over bumps. It was driving me crazy, and at first I was thinking it was something loose under the hood, then to realize that my strut mounts are bad. Rather than taking the existing struts apart, I will be buying quick struts to save time. Hopefully the costs for an alignment are cheap...

I have replaced both Strut Mounts on this car less than 2 years ago and have only driven the car 17,000 (freeway) miles since they were replaced.... Well....it started making the clunking noise again on the right side....I just replaced that strut mount 18 months ago and have only driven 17,000 miles and it friggin broke again???? What the hell??? I did not take it to the dealer this time to get the car repaired.... I replaced the broken strut mount again and went ahead and had them replace the struts too.... if another strut mount breaks....I'm setting that f*cking car on fire....

Well...after I had the broken strut mount replaced on the left side, 3 months later...the strut mount on the right side broke and started making the same clunking noise. Needless to say...the over-priced extended warranty I purchased with the car had expired so I had to pay for the whole thing myself... why didn't they replace both of them when I had it in 3 months earlier for the same problem? PISSES ME OFF!!! I was on foot and depended on other people to drive me where I needed to go.... I live in Phoenix..you can't get anywhere without a car...it's a HUGE CITY!!

My 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was making a clunking noise near the front left tire every time I went over a bump or drove down a road that was not perfectly smooth... I took it to the dealer and it took them almost 2 days to figure out that the strut mount was broken...how does that happen? I drive the freeway 99% of the time... I was without a car for 2 days.... did they offer a loaner car? Hell no....and I even bought their over-priced extended warranty.

The mechanic we had look at the car thinks it may be the axles and we will be having him try to fix these but he is not sure what may have caused this.
