My car didn't sound right. I had it in the shop so many times I lost track and no one could tell me what was wrong. Finally I had a mechanic tell me I needed a new timing chain and all the other fun things that go along with it. It cost a good amount. I almost didn't get it done because my car is getting older.

Malibu LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

The problem started the day before Thanksgiving, car was towed, repair shop said battery but I knew better. Next time was mid-January, pulled into work, car just quit, temps were below zero, but I knew I had a new battery so that couldn't be the problem. Saturday on my way to a funeral the car died and wasn't about to start again. Monday mechanic called to tell me that it needed new plugs and a coil pack, gave them the go ahead, Tuesday called to tell me that the problem diagnosed wasn't going to fix the car and that it was much worse. It was the timing belt. Total cost $1,300.00 plus $69.00 tow bill.

With all the complaints received, I feel this is a manufacturer defect and that all repairs should be covered by GM. After all, it was their design and their workers, my driving skills had nothing to do with the problem!!!!!!
