The contact stated that in order to resume normal operation the vehicle had to be shut down and restarted. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The roadside assistance diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to operate. The vehicle had not been towed to the dealer for repairs. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control) the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
My vehicle periodically stalls during operation. I have noticed this occurrence for the last year or so. I have not experienced any injuries or accidents as a result of this. However, I am reading that there may be issues with ignition switches of this particular make and model.
