I was driving the car was perfectly fine I only had it for 4 months it's only had two owners me and one other person and all of a sudden the power steering just went it immediately stopped working the gauges are bobbin up and down it's telling me to service ESC sometimes even the car won't start right away the lights on the gear stick won't turn on right away the engine light turned on the traction control turns off it's telling me power steering service tire monitor even though there's nothing wrong with it I don't know what's going on this car brands like brand new at first and then within a month of driving it it immediately just started crashing and that's when I read that there's been a lot of recalls on this model everything's electrical there's no power steering fluid nothing like that sometimes when the gears are changing they stick and it makes buffering sounds now it's starting to sputter and I have no idea what's going on this is dangerous having to stop and restart the car sometimes just to get the computer to recognize that the system is fine every time I call GM and I tell them that this car was never serviced when the recalls first happened they automatically reject me I don't know what to do as I said this car is basically brand-new it's only had two owners me and one other person it never was brought in when the first recall was acknowledged so this is still has all the original parts in it is there no one around that can help me?
As I was pulling out of a parking spot all of a sudden I lost power steering and the power steering warning light came on. I turned off the car and turned it back on and the power steering worked so I straightened it out and took another car.

Steering shaft column torque sensor assembly part on 2008 4 cylinder Malibu replaced by Chevrolet dealer in Oct, 2014 as part of Chevrolet recall # N140115 at about 75,000 miles of use -it was still functioning properly when replaced. The replacement part was redesigned but required replacement after only another 49,000 miles by the same redesigned part. Perhaps the recall remedy would have been more effective had the power steering motor controller unit also been replaced at about 75000 miles as recall # N140115 specified it could have been.

When I drive the car sometimes I get a message on my dash that says service traction control and service power steering. When the service power steering message comes on the speedometer says error and I cannot see how fast I'm going and the car stays in first gear.
Power steering stopped working when stopped to make a left turn across 3 lanes of traffic, when clear.it did not work in the 3 miles to home. It was frightening. I drove to the repair shop(non dealer).they quoted a repair cost and indicated there had been an expired bulletin. I told them to repair the vehicle. Total charges were $708.30. The part replaced, #23232310 was replaced by the GM dealer on Mar 03,2015 @78,311 miles on bulletin # 14117 at no charge without any previous issues. Requested total refund from dealer - they said call GM - (case #[xxx])who said the period of 10 years/150,000 miles had expired. Am I without recourse in this matter" a good part lasted almost 7 years, replaced by a part that lasted 5+ years. I wonder if this new part will correct the problem or is it a design problem? will you help me" information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Came home from work, parked my car. Everything was normal. Next day I went to start it and leave for work. When I turned on the car, the power steering alert appeared in the information center. Very hard to steer. Thought it just needed some power steering fluid but learned this car does not take any. Started doing some research and found out that many people have issues with this car and power steering.

Power steering is not working just in the last week. Sometimes it works but the steering wheel shakes even when I'm not moving the car. Other times it doesnt work at all.
Random lose of electric power steering, on highway at freeway speeds.. the steering wheel will lock and cause you to be unable to keep the car in control.. I've contacted General Motors after being advised this was and is a known issue and in most cases is covered under recalls and extended coverage. They said this vehicle wasn't covered
Electric steering goes out while driving. Was a recall for this in 2014 for some of the 2008 Malibu but dealership say not my vehicle even though that's the problem its having.
My electric locks are locking and unlocking randomly and the power steering goes out with message on dash. There is no powersteering until I turn the car off and back on then last for a undetermined amount of time.
Power steering sensor kit failure, known issue on this GM model and there was a recall for this year model on this issue yet didn't cover this VIN number, it is my belief that the recall for this issue wasnt wide enough to include this VIN # part replacement P/N 23232310 $708.73
When I start my car, the steering wheel is locked up and a message stating "power steering" comes across the main screen. My vehicle was stationary. The issue only continues to get worse over time, and the current recall for this doesn't seem to cover my VIN number or yield an open recall. It is possible the person who had this car before me had the issue fixed and it is now happening again. Only after restarting the vehicle multiple times am I able to turn the wheel all the while it shakes back and forth as if there's an issue with the steering column.
