I was driving on the highway and my engine blew and was very dangerous going 60. There is no one that rebuilds them so you need to buy a used or new one. The problem is becoming well known as I was looking for a new car and all the dealers have had this car coming in with the engine blowing at even 50,000 miles. My mechanic called GM and they said they are not recalling the motor. My mechanic told me to make some noise about it because it is a known issue. 3600.00 for used engine and 6000.00 for a new engine. I still owe on my loan and my car isn't even worth this much.
Email from my mechanic:
For some reason, cylinder #3 either dropped a valve or engine went out of time and the piston contacted the spark plug and/or valve and damaged the piston.
We would need to replace the engine.
There are no engine rebuilders that remanufacture your engine.
