Apparently the front differential has latent defects that causes noise that is first indication of failure. From other complaints this is becoming a problem at 150,000 miles or so. Although mine was still under 100,000 miles when it started. I had the transmission, transfer case, and both differentials serviced with new fluids a year ago. It was apparent then that the front differential was going to be a problem and it was. Now the fix is a used part replacement for $1200 or a rebuild for $2000+. Either way, an expensive repair. As I believed I was keeping up with maintenance that was still now keeping it from failing. NOW I know why we see so many Tundras and Honda trucks on the road today.
