Silverado 5.3L

I bought this truck in November last year and i noticed the problem shortly after i bought it. When accelerating the tires spin, especially in the rain it is the worse, but it will clutter and bang around and it almost feels as if the rear-end is about to just rip out from underneath it but i have to let out of the gas for it to stop of course and very very very easy touch the gas for it not to do it again. After the rough take off like that if you turn the wheel and drive at a low speed it will shutter very badly for a very long time as if the axle is about to slide out the side. Axel shops say i need to replace the whole limited slip unit and that costs way to much could i just replace the clutches and come out much cheaper.

I bought a 2005 Silverado with 51,000 miles on it from a local Chevy dealer thinking that it would be safer buying from a dealership instead of an individual because they had to disclose any problems with the vehicles that the sold. When I told them about the clunking noise that my truck was making they said it was normal and that the 05 models all made that noise, if they had told me this when I was buying the truck I would have had a choice instead of having to deal with this problem, now the burden is on me to live with it or to try and sell the truck. This is wrong!

GM is very incompetent when it comes to repairing the new vehicles. Everything is normal to them if they do not want to fix it or know how to fix it. This is not the first problem we have had with GM We also had a power steering problem with our Truck which they replaced the pump with a remanufactured pump which still made noise in fact it got worse. I called GM and filed a complaint and asked for a new pump response, was they only use remanufactured when new parts are not immediately available. Then dealer replied If you want a new pump you will have to pay for it otherwise they would go ahead and replace a valve in the pump like GM suggested. OK they replaced the valve, still not fixed. They suggested we pick up the truck and take it to Chevrolet dealer. OK we did that, so now we have an Auburn GM dealer that could not fix the problem, so we took it to A Chevrolet Dealer. They said it was a bad rack causing the pump to whine like it was so they replaced the rack. OK we still have the original problem. A loud whine in power steering unit

They called GM Rep, Rep wanted them to replace another valve in powersteering unit, They told GM that was already done by another dealer. Finally after 7 times without the vehicle sometimes 2 days in a row

they put in a brand new powersteering pump, and guess what that fixed the problem. I have to ask myself given a lot of the problems GM is having do they know the right way to fix a problem ?? and have a satisfied customer, it don't like they do.

Silverado

  • 10,000 miles

Drivetrain has clunked and actually bound up from a stop at a red light on two different occasions. Clunk seems to be worse under light acceleration. Dealer tells me this is normal and they cannot detect anything wrong. Can't tell if this is rear end or tranny, but definitely in driveshaft area. I have friends with the same problem. What can we do?

after the third compalint to the dealer, they replaced the "slip yoke" but now it is back. I reported the same problem this month but they now tell me just as they did before, it is normal with 4 wheel drive. I am a heartbeat away from involving GM directly before the warranty expires.
