Silverado 4.8L

Vibration at 50-54mph, had tires replace...still bad.....re balance showed no problem, I even looked at the balancer. still same issue.....thinking drive shaft or rear end issues. will be taking to dealer.

Update from Nov 10, 2010: Took to Dealer....they reworked the Transmission, converter, yoke, u-joints. clunk was gone when taking off but, Still have vibration. took back to dealer and was advised would need to have run out and road force test to determine if tire problem, test not covered under warranty, $100.00 for test. said passed, They then said it was Beam Shake....What is beam shake???? Not covered under Warranty. Repair Kit ordered,$60.00, will have to install myself under self warranty program, cost should be 1 lost Saturday. consists of new cab mount pucks or something.

Summary.....There is a service bulletin out with part numbers of kit to repair this annoying problem, but no warranty or recall of this...I will post more when i figure it out.

I knew I should have looked into this before buying this Head Ache.....Govt vehicle HAHA

(reported on)

Silverado LT 6.6 DIESEL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 311 miles

Upon the initial test drive vehicle had tremendous vibration, returned to dealership, Service Manager instantly said it was "frame beaming" and there was no fix. I insisted that it felt like a bad tire, they finally had a technician ride with me, we didn't make it a 1/4 mile and he said take it back. They found one bad tire, which they changed and 3 out of balance which they rebalanced. I purchased the vehicle and drove it home, the ride was rougher than I was used to because I had previously owned 1500 series trucks and SUV's so I thought it was just because I stepped up to a 2500 HD. The more I drove the more I noticed the vibration, I tried new shocks from Monroe and it was no better. I put aftermarket wheels and new tires and still no better. I tried to have the tires "RoadForce" balanced and three of the 4 were bad. Changed tire brand completely and still have the same vibration. That is when I remembered the Service Manager mentioning "Frame Beaming" and that is what led me here. I have not gone back to the dealership yet as I am trying to gather as much ammo as possible to fend off their "no fix" response that I anticipate.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Silverado 2500 HD 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,400 miles

my 2007 Silverado is the most vibrating piece of crap i have drove the whole truck vibrates at all speeds i have had it to the shop many times they checked the tires, transmission, driveablity of vehical and all they can say is thats the way the trucks ride. fooey at 38000 dollars they best fix this problem. by the way i should mention this is the replacement of my 2006 2500 that i lemon lawed that had the same problem. any after i have spent over $5000 down on first truck and $2000 more to transfer to second truck im at my wits end. if you think this complaint is to long, you should read a list of excuses that i have heard from dealers over the past year on both trucks.
