The 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500hd duramax diesel comes equipp ed with the Bosch CP4 injection fuel pump. This pump is prone to failure at anytime mileage wise. The pump was used in european diesel engines with success since their fuel has a higher content of lubricity. Due to the ultra-low sulfur fuel mandated for us diesel engines this pump has a history of catastrophic results when used in the 2011-2016 duramax 6.6L Chevy engines.metal to metal wear causes small metal fragments to enter the fuel system thereby causing engine failure. This event can happen without warning. If the engine has stopped while in motion this presents an accident waiting to happen. My concern is that I tow a 14000lb rv 5th wheel trailer with my truck. How can it be stopped safely with out the engine providing power to the braking system?. this engine is very popular among rv'ers, boaters, flatbed haulers etc; basically anyone moving a heavy load down the highway.if this incident happens when the vehicle is out of warranty the repairs can cost $8 to 12K. Many websites contain information about the CP4 failure. My son had 2 such vehicles in a small trucking fleet costing him over $20K to repair. I feel General Motors should issue a recall or provide owners of this vintage truck additional coverage. This pump was also used by Ford & Dodge in the mid 2012-2014 with the same results. The May 2019 issue of "trailer life" magazine contains an article about the Bosch CP4 on pages 77-81. To date my vehicle has not had this problem yet. My sons trucks blew up in July 2017

The fuel transfer pump, which moves fuel from the rear tank to the front tank has malfunctioned. This has caused the fuel gauge to read inaccurately, causing engine to stop running, has illuminated the service engine light multiple times, displaying code P2068 and P0463. Vehicle can run out of fuel unexpectedly, due to gauge showing more fuel than is available. This has caused the engine to stall unexpectedly. This problem is exactly as described in recall document 13421 from GM, however, the VIN number of my vehicle is not included in the recall. I had an independent auto repair shop verify the cause of the service engine light codes, and their findings are consistent with mine. The vehicle has 98,000 mile. I am the original owner. I have spoke with GM customer service department, who is looking in to this, however has not yet responded to my complaint. I am awaiting their response in the next 24 hrs. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. While driving 65 mph, the speedometer decelerated to 1 mph without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the high pressure fuel pump failed and caused the metal shavings to clog the fuel system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was a tsb in reference to the failure. The tsb number was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 196,000.

Gas mileage complaint. Stated mileage (hwy ) is 22 mpg, the first six monthes of driving did achieve this stated mileage, occasionally as much as 23 mpg.after 2 recall service visits and an oil change, the mileage abruptly dropped to 18 mpg I complained to chev. Service in cottage grove, or several times over the course of 4 monthes they advised me to change fuel (service stations, ) put a fuel booster additive in the tank, check tire pressure.they also stated that the fuel mnfrs. Changing the fuel blend for the winter season may be the cause. No service codes in the computer. None of the suggested "fixes" have changed the mileage, still at around 18 mpg. Something caused this sudden drop in mpg.I have a couple of ideas, 1. one recall was a computer software upgrade, wrong shift parameters installed ? 2. at prescribed oil changes,06/03/14 &12/18/14, ( truck requires dexos 0-20 oil ) maybe wrong oil was installed " one invoice shows 5W-30 was installed. However dealership denies installing wrong oil. How can I have the oil analyzed to determine which is in the truck "

Shortly after starting truck and departing to local store I noticed a strong fuel odor. After driving approximately 3-4 miles my gas tank went from 3/4 full to nearly empty, around the same time passerby's started flagging me down stating that my truck was leaking fuel and smoking from underneath. I immediately pulled over to closest parking lot to realize the truck was massively leaking fuel from different areas and was indeed smoking as if it was about to catch fire. I turned the truck off and moved away. The fuel leak stopped and the smoke eventually dissipated. It was been towed back to dealer by Chevrolet road side and is currently being checked for the problem.
