I had to replace coolant tank reservior on with only 49k miles. That is crazy. The place where you put the rubber hose on broke off.

This is a known problem and I think $288 for labor plus $127 for parts and coolant is outrageous. There is defect in the plastic tank for it to leak in less than 50k miles. Luckily our car never overheated so we did not end up ruining the motor but it sure could have happened. The only thing we did notice was the intermittent loss of heat while driving.

At less than 20,000 miles I never expected to have any issues with this car let alone a problem with the overflow tank. I noticed drips of coolant on my garage floor and checked the tank for loose hose clamps, loose cap etc. After a week of continued leaking I took it in to my mechanic who found that the tank was leaking at the seam area when under pressure and as my warranty had just expired - was not covered by the manufacturer even if faulty.

He had to purchase the replacement directly from the dealership as there are no aftermarket parts available.

I paid $174 to replace a part that should have maintained its integrity for the life of this vehicle and I am not happy about it.

Found large puddle in driveway and discovered coolant leaking out of return line to tank. Cheap spring clamp not keeping tension anymore apparently. Hissing sound at connection and coolant shooting out when car was running. Added coolant. Removed spring hose clamp and replaced with two worm gear old style clamps. Luckily the fitting was long enough that the hose fit on to allow two because one just slowed it down but did not stop coolant from leaking still. Will keep an eye on it before i go to the dealer because they suck.
