Car sticks in first gear the day after driving it a long distance. Does not do this after driving short distances, (such as driving it about 20 miles round-trip to work and back). When this problem occurs, the "skid" and "battery" icons appear on the dashboard. Shutting the vehicle off and starting it back up again seems to take the problem away--temporarily--until driven a long distance the next time. The engine sputters and runs roughly when this occurs. When taken to the dealer later on--when the icons are gone off of the dash--they cannot find anything. This stuff should not be occurring in an 8-month-old car! I've had this happen twice.
