The lift gate started to malfunction when it was a little under a year old. The lift gate would not open when the button under the handle was pushed. It happened intermittently at first, not opening on the first try and needing to be pushed a few times before it would give. Then it would work fine for a couple of weeks. When it did it the next few times, I was able to eventually open it, but then I couldn't duplicate the problem when I tried to show my husband. He said to call our local dealership. I brought it in to them (VanderGriff Chevy in Arlington, TX) and they could not duplicate the problem either, Before I arrived, to come pick my car back up, the service dept. guy tried a few more times and was able to get the lift gate to fail. He recommended the techs replace the button that opens it. This seemingly worked for a couple of months until the trunk wouldn't open again. I called and left messages, no call back. Called and left more messages, no call back. Went weeks without access to my trunk space. I finally stayed on hold for 40 minutes and was connected to my service rep, who apologized profusely for not returning my calls, (I'm calling BS on his excuses) nevertheless, we made an apt and this time they replaced the latch.

Fast forward a year and a month later, now I'm outside of my warranty window, and the 1 year guarantee, and surprise my lift gate won't open. The Chevy dealership will not fix it for free, you know, their service dept needs to be paid for the work they do, even though they apparently only put a bandaid on a faulty lift gate in the first place. My husband and I have both had very polite, but firm conversations with a new service rep, but he seems adamant that they are not required to fix it. But hey, at least we have an extended warranty that might fix it for $100 deductible. It is in the shop right now under diagnosis, so we don't know what will be done to fix it this time. I am going to Copy and paste this as two separate complaints.
