The brakes fail at slow speeds in both reverse and forward. The problem is that there is no pattern as to when this problem occurs. It will just happen with no warning. It happened once when towing my trailer. That was scary as hell. Fortunately no injuries or damage. I think this should be paid for by GM. I have to believe its a defect since I see this complaint with 2015 models.

Suburban

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

We leased our 2016 Suburban in May of 2016. After about 6000 miles, on the morning of October 6th, I started my car and a warning popped up saying "Service Brake Assist". On my drive to work the brake felt weird and wouldn't brake correctly. Sometimes the car would stop very fast and skid, other times it would take longer to brake and on one instance it didn't brake at all until i released the brake and pressed again all the while the brake was pulsating as if the abs was engaged. Weirdly enough, the next time I started the car the warning didn't pop up and the brake worked fine. I took it to the dealer and after a few days they diagnosed the problem and replaced the brake booster and vacuum sensor. I have not picked up my car from the dealer yet so I can't say if this fixed the problem or not.
