Takata recall, previous GM recall complaint #49152. It has been a year and a half since NHTSA and Chevrolet was notified of my request to have passenger side airbag replaced. My Chevrolet dealership (country Chevrolet) denied my request to have airbag turned off until replacement parts were obtained. Every time my wife rides in the passenger seat she is putting her life at risk. Instead of the government taking these big fines against the companies, why don't they buy the air bags to replace the defective ones. Do you think that 18 months is an acceptable time table for fixing a national recall? it is no wonder the average citizen is so disgusted by the snail like pace that the federal government works. It seems as if our government agrees with these behemoth corporations that it is easier and less costly to just pay the family after they have lost a loved one than to proactively solve the problems.

Takata recall: Upon receiving initial notice of the recall in 2016, two Chevrolet dealerships in and near birmgingham, hendricks and edwards both stated they were unable to honor the recall because it was pending. Upon recent receipt of the tk holdings chapter 11 notice, both dealerships are still stating they are unable to honor the recall. Even though the letter and recall notice state to immediately remedy a potentially unsafe issue through a free replacement at a manufacturer's dealerships, all such dealerships are stating there is nothing they can do and are unwilling to schedule a replacement. Again, the dealerships in questions specifically are edwards Chevy in birmingham, and hendrick's Chevrolet in hoover.
Takata recall recall on vehicle since May 2016. Now receiving usps mail where my information has been passed over to a private company to which I am receiving information of a bankruptcy filing and my rights are being timed with a problematic issue concerning my vehicle (received time limit notice 10/21/17). Over a year now, I have been waiting to find out about a recall but it is still stated as "status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available" (NHTSA recall number: 16V381, manufacture recall number 2049151). Now I received "important legal notice" where owners have been given a deadline of December 27, 2017. Yet, the status is still "incomplete". I am not wasting my time at a dealership to rip me off when I still have no status of recall to stay in control of the situation. Now, due to the allowance of bankruptcy filing, my patience of handling this situation is coming to an end and I do not want to wait until I am injured by a known faulty part in my vehicle. This needs to be remedy swiftly and the status needs to be updated so that owners have a way of dealing with the situation without a dealership trying to steal more money from owners who have been put in a possibly harmful situation.
