Tahoe LTZ 5.3L V8

The click and pop was there when I bought the vehicle with around 68,000 miles on it. It was very minor at the time and very random. Over the last year it got worse and worse and ultimately took it in to get it repaired. The parts were completely out of stock in the Twin Cities metro area and the part had to be over-nighted. My mechanic mentioned it is something they have repaired many times. I had the truck back the next day, but it was extremely annoying to find out how widespread this problem is. This is one of many issues I've had, and buying the first year of the new model is definitely turning out to be a bad idea, regardless of the deal.

I took this in to the dealer to be fixed numerous times. He finally fixed it, saying he had to make repairs inside the steering column. Kept my vehicle almost 2 weeks! Fixed the problem..... for about 2 months, then the popping in the steering started again. I'm now fighting with them to fix it as a "preexisting problem" that was covered under standard warranty. Since my vehicle is now out of standard warranty, the dealer doesn't want to fix it again.

Tahoe LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I have owned 5 Tahoes in a row. 4 New! The last 2 have been 2015 LTZs-nothing but problems. The 1st 2015 AC failed in AZ on a 10 day trip so we had to trade in on another one as they didn't have the parts to fix it. Took a $7K loss on a car with 7,000 miles. The new 2015 purchase from Century Chevrolet in Phoenix has been in the shop multiple times post warranty. New AC Compressor, 2 new front struts, all steering linkage, rack, steering wheel bearings 3 times! Going in tomorrow with more steering issues. New hub assembly, oil cooler lines were leaking and had to be replaced, 3/4 recalls on Chevy for other issues.

I have constant clunking in the front end and have been in the shop and had it looked at by 2 different mechanics and no one can figure it out. Still makes noise when stopping or turning slow. This front end has had nothing but problems. Side detection system also failed. Gas vent is failed. Clearly disappointed in purchase after being so loyal for 20+ yrs.

Tahoe LTZ 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

Started noticing a clicking noise when turning right. This click at times was a significant POP that can even be felt on the steering wheel. It soon began to occur even when turning left, sometimes when turning into a turn and sometimes when recovering from a turn. Took it in to the dealer and at first they said a steering column bearing had come apart and they were going to replace it but after they contacted (TAC) they were instructed to replace the entire steering column since the bearing wasn't serviceable. The scary part (aside from this being my steering) is that I not only heard the same complaint from others with the same vehicle but even at the dealer they acknowledged other Tahoe's coming in with this problem so where's the recall?

clicking and thud sound when turning the wheel

My gripe is that I’ve paid $68k for a 2015 vehicle that has issues that the service team didn’t/ can’t resolve. Over the past year, I’ve put it in the shop for issues ranging from; Driver side seat problems, excessive wind noise, steering column clicking noise issues and rear end noise. The driver side seat issues has been in the shop at least three different times. Each time there was a different approach/part that needed to be ordered. The last fix appears to be working (fingers crossed).

There still remains two issues that have not been resolved (excessive wind noise in the cabin compartment and excessive clicking noise in the steering column). During my last visit to Winegardner, I requested the service manager Doug to go on a test drive to point out the issues. He stated that he clearly heard the noise. We then test drove another vehicle (same year and model) and he confirmed that those noises were not present which indicated that the problem was isolated to the vehicle I owned. After completing the GM recommend fix (Steering column bearing replacement), the steering noise improved but was not fully resolved. The issue I have here is that the ticked was closed out as Normal trait of the vehicle. GM used that to get out of doing anything addition. The service manager (Doug) acknowledged verbally that there was clearly an issue, but CYA write up in the ticket was the show stopper.

When I reported this to GM, they referred back to the close out ticket (Normal trait of the vehicle) offered and apology and a 1 year OnStar subscription, REALLY… That didn’t fixed the problem. Because of the numerous issues and repeated visits over the past year, I requested a bye back as I felt/feel that I have a lemon. GM replied that my vehicle did not meet the criteria for a bye back and simply offered a free OnStar subscription renewal.

Meanwhile, I have a vehicle with steering column issues that have not been resolved. In the event that there are future issues with other vehicles and God forbid result in accidents or possible injuries, they will not be able to argue a case for not knowing (Law Suite in the making).
