The right side (passenger side) of vehicle gets very little heat. This caused the entire car to be cold. The defrost does not melt ice on windshield. This first happened when the car was 11 month old. The dealer replaced the radiator, heater core and cleaned the block. He said these were full of sludge. Today, March 2015) at 34017 miles, I picked up the car from the dealer after complaining of the same lack of heat and the same was reported, replaced radiator, heater core, oil filter cooler and flush cooling system. Also stated on the repair invoice "performed test and repair per star case [xxx]". this is apparently an account to charge the repair back to chrylser. Chrysler knows of this problem. The service advisor told me that someone at manufacturing plant added a sealant to stop leaks. He said it is well known not to use this sealant because of the problems it will eventually cause in the system. This has been repaired twice, I have no reason to believe that it will not happen again. It has been paid by warranty but some day it will be out of warranty and I will not be the one paying for it!!!! Chrysler must be held accountable for this and make a permanent correction to this problem. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

There is low heat output from the heater vents due to the heater core plugging up with "sludge" as Chrysler calls it. There is a Chrysler star technical assistance hotline case, number [xxx] explaining heater core restriction due to sludge causing poor heater system performance. It is a well known problem with a large number of Chrysler 200 which I am sure can be verified by Chrysler. I believe it should be a recall, or at least an extended warranty issue. The star case states to replace the heater core, radiator, radiator cap and reverse flush the entire system if the customer complaint can be verified by the technician, however it does not explain the actual cause of the sludge. Here are other weblinks related to the same issue that is in my opinion an obvious problem that chrylser should place a recall on immediately. starparts.Chrysler.com/newsletters/newsletter_oct_2012.pdf www.200forums.com/forum/10-Chrysler-200-engine-technical-discussion/1966-fyi-heater-core-6.html www-ODI.NHTSA.dot.gov/owners/searchresults;jsessionid=cnhmjlwqht8gkgyhdrzyjpxxpx2lnz4jbzs8mt3qb6tmzctns2rp!389628101?prodtype=V&searchtype=prod&targetcategory=a&searchcriteria.model=200&stats=1306768%2C2%2C0%2C135%2C0%2C200&makestats=1306768%2C2%2C0%2C135%2C0%2C200%3B1369770%2C4%2C0%2C62%2C8%2C300%3B1883971%2C1%2C0%2C0%2C0%2csebring%3B1306769%2C4%2C1%2C149%2C3%2ctown+and+country%3B&jsonbaseurl=%2fdownloads%2ffolders%2F&searchcriteria.model_yr=2012&searchcriteria.make=Chrysler&searchcriteria.prod_ids=1306768. 2012 Chrysler 200 heater issue. Vehicle will not warm on passenger side preventing defogger to reduce ice or snow from windshield. The vehicle was taken to Chrysler dealership and after several attempts to remove sludge from the radiator and heater core the heater still will not maintain heat to the passenger side which is a safety issue in keeping the windshield clear of ice or snow. Dealership indicated that heater core, radiator and coolant reservoir will all need to be replaced. In reading various forms its known that Chrysler uses some type of chemical to plug any pin holes in the radiator and this product is causing a sludge in the system and creating the problem. Chrysler will not or indicated after calling, they will not pay the $1700 cost of the repairs that were created during manufacturing.

The passenger side stopped working no heat. Took the car to dealership and they flushed the system with chemical and coolant a lot of junk came out. That didn't work now dealership says heater core and radiator needs replaced $1700. I research this and there has been a problem with 2012 with the same problem. There should be a recall.

I was driving down a busy street, trying to make a left hand turn through traffic, and my car stalled without no warning and everything was locked including brakes. I took it into Chrysler and they couldn't find anything wrong with it because no fault light was coming on. So they took the next step of putting a module on my car for 2 days to see if it happens again, but lucky for me it didn't because the first time was scary enough for me. Then when I took it back in they just told me that when my car does that just put it in neutral and restart it. So three weeks later my car did it again but this time I was on a busy freeway going 70 mph, so I tried their suggestion and it did not work, for the second time everything just quit working in my car. So I called them again talked to the manager at Chrysler and he said if there is no lights coming on when my car does this he really can't do anything about it.

Purchased vehicle on Nov.1st.2013. Noticed when turning off vehicle there is a loud clicking sound on front right of vehicle. Had it checked by a mechanic and was informed that there was a sensor malfunction near the timing cover. Went to dealership and was told that this was normal for this model and make of vehicle. Someone is wrong, either the mechanic or the dealership. Who?

The Chrysler 200 vehicle that I purchased in April 2012 was brought in again on 7/1/13 for service due to front end clanging metal noises which occur while turning, backing up, slowing and stopping. This undiagnosed noise began following several engine stalling episodes, two of which required towing (since I was unable to restart the vehicle to drive in for service). The engine stalling episodes occurred while driving at 55 mph and as stated, twice resulted in towing and service. Service on the engine stalling problem occurred in April and again in May 2013. It is unclear why the remedy for the engine stalling was not followed per the NHTSA recall id # 11V487000 (engine and engine cooling) technical service bulletin/Chrysler manufacturer remedy- since that recall had already been published. In addition to this safety issue, the front end metal clanging may be the result of towing due to the engine defect and/or a result of another vehicle defect (recall #11V315000 - steering column). This is a vehicle that has multiple problems and poses a serious safety issue due to various problems. It needs to be off the road.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that when driving between 16-22 mph, the vehicle would hesitate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the vehicle was changing gears as it was designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the steering wheel seized without warning. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 2,000. The consumer stated the very day they picked the vehicle up, it stalled in the entrance way. The dealer claimed, the vehicle ran out of gas. As her son drove the vehicle home, he noticed when coasting at low speeds, the vehicle would kick back. The mechanic stated the jerk/kick was from the engine shifting gears. The kicking would go away, when the accelerator pedal was pressed. When her son turned the steering wheel to the right and then straightened it out, by turning the wheel to the left, the steering wheel locked up. He put the vehicle in park and shut off the engine. He tried to re-start the vehicle several times, but the engine would rev up tight until it was about to start, but would immediately shut off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where they found a code, but it had nothing to with the problem, that was being experienced. Updated 01/16/13

The first incident with my brand new 2012 Chrysler 200 was failure to start. I went to start my car and turned the key but the car would not start the engine stalled. I started to turn the key again, again did not turn on. After the third time it began. I brought it to the dealer they said they could not duplicate my problem, contacted Chrysler to see if there was any report of this but they hadn't had any complaints. The dealer then sent me on my way. On April 1st I was driving my 2012 Chrysler 200,658 miles, with my two year old daughter in the car. As I was turning right off of a main street into a the parking lot there was another car moving so at the entrance, I pressed my brakes shortly and put the car in reverse I was not in the other vehicles way so I then proceeded to put the car back in drive but the car would not move. At this time the car was at a complete stop and in the fast moving traffic with my daughters end out in the main street. I have brought my car to the dealer which they have told me they are unable to duplicate the problem and that they spoke with Chrysler and asked for reports but Chrysler said no problems such as mine has been reported. The dealership or Chrysler is helping me in this matter I don't feel safe and I have expressed this to them. I and my daughter are at risk with this vehicle. I feel something is wrong and since the car is not leaving and sensors on after either incident I feel it is not safe to drive. If the car stops on the interstate and stalls or fails to drive my daughter and or I can be killed.
