Car shuts off intermittently while driving. Sometimes it will start right back up again, other times it takes a while to turn the engine over. No indicator or predictor of when this happens. It’s random, but gets worse over time.

Vehicle stopped in traffic and would not restart. Had it towed in and it would cost thousands to fix it according to Chrysler mechanic. I am getting rid of the car. This was not the first time there was a problem. I had just had the car inspected and the oil and filter changed. No problems were found then it died in traffic and would not start. I bought it new in 2012 at a Chrysler dealership. I have had other problems which I will report separately. I would not own another Chrysler even if I should inherit one. That is how awful my experience has been with this vehicle.

When I brake at a stop light, the engine will cut off intermittently. I have always been able to put the car in park and restart the car, but it is dangerous. I noticed that it happens most often on rainy days.

I purchased this car from Diehl Automotive in Robinson, PA in September 2012. I really wanted to love this car as I come from a family of Dodge and Chrysler customers. The luster was off the car within 6 months dealing with the clown show at Diehl. I am repulsed every time I see the owner in various TV commercials and the staff there are the most arrogant bunch of people I've ever encountered.

In February 2019, I was driving my 200 and without warning it shut off. I had it towed to Diehl and the following day, they said it started up right away, but insisted it needed the air filter replaced. Two months later, the same thing happened again. After an hour of waiting for roadside assistance, it started up immediately and it was like nothing happened. I drove it to Diehl and explained to them the problem reoccurred. They kept it for three weeks trying to recreate the problem but could not do so. I told them my family's safety is at stake but their expert staff could not solve the problem.

Since I have minimal knowledge on fixing cars, I want a dealership I can trust but I obviously made a mistake by buying a car from these insufferable gas bags. For the past nine months, we've been driving the car without incident until today. My wife was driving the car and like the last two occurrences, the car shut off automatically while driving on the highway. Forty-five minutes later, the car started up as if nothing happened. I can not wait to rid myself of this car and the only thing that would give me pleasure is for this car to spontaneously combust while in the service bay at Diehl.

The question previously asks how bad fire, crash, etc. That's just it. Its like these people are waiting for someone to get into a freaking accident before something is done! On to the shop to have them fix other issues that is going on my car, and it cut off on me again for the 2nd time while driving. Not stopped at a light, not at a stop sign, literally while my foot is on the gas and other cars behind me my car shut off on me! Something needs to be done about this before something bad happens

My 2012 Chrysler 200 has been shutting off without a warning sporadically for the last 6 months. No engine lights go off or sound, it just slows down and the steering locks. The car turns on again and I go on my way as if nothing happened! This is where it gets strange for me because I took the car to a Chrysler Service Dept to do the Diagnostics Test and nothing reflected or was mentioned that related to the shutting off. So I drive my car out of the service and about a mile and a half it shuts down twice as I slow down at a red light. I drive about 20-30 minutes more and it shuts down again ! How does a Diagnostics Test NOT show this problem???

Chrysler needs to RECALL this issue asap before someone gets in a horrible accident if it shuts down at the wrong time in the wrong place!

When slowing down the car surges then stalls. I can't be any more specific than this. If my foot isn't on the brake, I fear the vehicle would accelerate.

Carb stalled again today. It’s the 10th time this year. Going 65 in the fast lane. Car shuts down. Power steering stops. Brakes get hard. It’s happened 6 times on the freeway and 4 times in town. Sometimes it starts back up after being turned off and on. Sometimes it takes 20-30 min. I’ve contacted Chrysler and nothing. No recall info. Someone is going to have to die before they care.

It first happened while on top of an overpass with ice on the road. I was worried that another vehicle would run into me. It started after sitting for 45 minutes. I'm glad I didn't have my wife and kids with me.

My car shut off on the freeway going about 70 mph. I had to pull to the side of the road with the car off and no power to the steering wheel. It made it really hard for me and endangered my safety with on coming traffic behind me at a really busy time of the day.

Have had this car shut down dozens of times while driving. No warning lights, no warning at all. Has happened at 30mph and at 60 mph - I'll lose steering and braking, and the car will turn over but not start. Unhooking negative battery terminal for a few seconds resolves, but only temporarily.

The other day it did it 23 times on a thirty minute drive. Very dangerous. I have extended warranty, but it's not the drivetrain apparently. Heard it's computer, but I'm not a mechanic. Seems to be very common with these cars. Why hasn't Chrysler stepped up and found the fix? This could kill someone. I was on a windy curvy road and by a miracle didn't go off the cliff.

Car dies coming to a stop or putting in gear under low acceleration. I read about a recall of the pcm, then later a wiring pin in the fuse relay box. Apparently defective crap was used in them that's caused this problem. I want the damn thing fixed.

The car randomly stopped as I was about to enter the highway, but luckily I had time for it to roll to the side. After sitting there waiting 4 hours it turned on. It happened the following month on the highway but there was no traffic and I was going fast enough that when it stopped it rolled to the side. I don't know where I found the strength to turn the wheel a little because it had locked.

This has literally happened at least 100x since that first time and it is nerve wracking because i have to drive it on eggshells. Something's gotta give because every mechanic has said they can't help me.

I've had this Chrysler 200 for 2 months and every week there's something new wrong. Only half of the dashboard shows. There's also something electrical wrong , the car shuts off while driving. One day it will run just fine with no check light then the next ,its too hot to start or shuts off in drive.

My battery light came on and I thought; okay go get a new battery. How silly of me. Because before I even had the chance, the car started losing all of its electrical functions. Radio stopped, lights out, brakes not working, and unable to accelerate. It stopped on me in the middle of the road forcing me to seek help. Luckily my husband was close by. We changed the battery thinking this would solve the problem and low and behold, the battery light came back on and the car started making noises again. Can't get into the repair shop until September 6th. Why isn't this issue fixed.

Still not fixed. Cleaned throttle body, and when that didn't resolve the issue they replaced throttle body. Car still stalls at random times, both while moving and waiting at lights. Almost been in several accidents. All loss of power steering and control of the car.

Update from Jul 30, 2018: The day after I wrote my complaint the engine started shaking as soon as I turned the car on. I tried to restart the car, it would not start, and instead rolled backwards into the street. Luckily there was enough room for cars to go around me. Eventually I was able to start the car long enough to get it out of the street.
