CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.
The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

Takata recall. I got a letter couple months ago about a recall on the air bags saying that they are defected and the company who put them in are going bankrupt. Since I been driving the Chrysler(2017) its has been stalling when I drive. When I brought it I asked me man was there anything wrong he said no. There is still stalling when I drive as if its switching gears(kinda like a stick shift) it's scary because I have kids and places I take the car to is saying its its suppose to do that. I've drove many cars and never experienced the problem. When I'm on the highway an I'm on auto cruise it shifts from the # I have it on to a higher level then once again it's like it wants to stalls and kinda jerks. That's not normal at all because if I'm on auto cruise at 65 mph why wouldnt ot just stay there instead of just trying to switch gears? every day when I leave its jerks when I pull off as I'd it's a sticks shift. Happens literally all the time. I took it to different shops one says it's a recall but others say it's nothing wrong and I cant find anything on who I'm suppose to talk to and really get this looked
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator kept illuminating, which was a safety concern. The contact stated that the wiring harness was replaced after the failure occurred more than four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (jim browne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram tampa bay, 10909 N Florida ave, tampa, fl 33612, (813) 452-5499) several times, but a permanent solution was not provided. In addition, the vehicle kept stalling. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for over two months for diagnostic testing. The dealer indicated that they replaced the engine assembly, but the contact was uncertain if the failures would recur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.
While driving the car randomly shots off. The other day my wife was driving it in the freeway and she almost got into an accident. We did took the car to the dealer and we leave the car there for about two days and they couldn't find anything. After that the car was working just fine but two days ago it happen again while taking my daughter to day care. I just want to know if there are any recalls on the enginen, transsmision or something. Thank yok

My car has been working great. It us up to date on maintenance, as of yesterday it took a while to turn on in the morning. Around 4:54pm on 5/22/18 the car did not want to start. 5/23/18 at 8:00am it turned on but took a while agaig. So I turned it off and turned it back on but this time the engine light, parking light, and gear didnt want to switch shift.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and suddenly stopped. The contact stated that the parking brake and service air bag indicators illuminated. In addition, when the contact applied the seat belt, the seat belt indicator did not register. The contact called dupage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (433 E N ave, glendale heights, il 60139, (630) 446-1400), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I purchased this 2015 200 Chrysler January 1, 2016 from zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of downers. Address 2311 ogden ave, downers grove, il. Leading up to the engine going out the car would just randomly cut off while in motion and also making turns. I took it back to this dealership and they stated that the engine went out. On June 14,2016 that's when I got an engine replaced. I ask if it was new or used and they assured me that it was a new engine. However keeping up with oil changes, my check engine light came on. I took it to a mechanic and was told that I needed a tune up done. So I got my spark plugs changed. After that the car would just cut off while in motion and also turning. I tried driving the car to work while turning it on whenever it cuts off. The brakes got so tight on me that I had to use both feet to stop the vehicle. I got the car towed to a car shop and they stated that this car had to be looked at by a dealership.so I got the car towed to the nearest Chrysler dealership and they stated that there was 4 things wrong with this car. Then called me back and stated that this car needed an engine. This car is under a hundred thousand miles and with this problem occurring again for the second time. Looking for help and answers.
I have a Chrysler 200C AWD 2015 that is continually sabotaged/refusal to fix by various Chrysler dealers since complaining about a warranty fix issue early on. Ever since its been a series a mishaps since going to the dealer. Gator Chrysler of melbourne, fl and bonafice heirs Chrysler of merritt island, fl both aggressively try to get me to trade the vehicle in instead of fixing it. Repeatedly they state they are not hearing the issues that are not easy to fix, ie transmission hangup between 4th and 5th gear. The car is fixed for various issues that always require me to bring it back. I would like someone from your Agency to pull all records relating from Chrysler, and both of the aforementioned dealers. The phone records and call logs are crucial to the investigation. Also I opened arbitration that was ignored and I feel the car is a lemon. Chrysler at this point refuses to fix the car to standards. Each time they say and list on the paperwork that they will be doing a 16 multipoint inspection. Repeatedly this is stated to be done, but the timeline of fixes do not align. I'm not smart enough and need an engineer from Chrysler to physically come to a local location to inspect the vehicle. Scott pelley and secret shoppers should be done mirroring this scenerio as hearsay is this is common practice given the number of elderly in this area. I can't formally make this accusation, but from missing tires, mysterious mishaps and then being out the vehicle, stood up for rentals, etc. The main point now is I was told the coolant would be checked standard in a multipoint inspection, but it was not because when I left bonafice heirs Chrysler it immediately overheated. They are breaking the car to get back at me and make me look noncredible in the disorganization. I just know its all fishy and is beyond me at this point to audit, but needs to be done for safety.
Last year had the car in do to the transmission the shop reprogrammed the computer. Last week while driving the car was going 55 and seemed like it quit moving then the motor rpms kept going up. Finally we put the car in neutral and stopped it. Restarted it and it sounded very rough at first then settled down. Was able to drive home 5 minutes away. Next day couldn't start the car. Towed it to the dealer and they said the motor is shot. There was a recall on it for something that I never was informed about.
The car stalls when pressing the gas. Once it finally catches it's a hard jerk in the car. Have taken to have inspected but service station says it's fine.
Vehicle keeps overheating and shutting off by itself while in motion on the highway. First I was told it was the thermostat malfunctioning and now a converter. The car stalls and shuts off with the inability of restarting. Started happening four mths ago.
Immediately after recall work was done I experience issues. When I try to start my car (push to start requires you to push the break and push the button) break peddle won't depress, service transmission lights comes on. I call a tow truck and get it dropped off at the closet dealership. I arrive behind the tow truck and watch it be dropped off explain to service adviser whats going on and I just had recall work done and that is when the issues started. Immediately without even looking at my car or knowing what car is mine she says no its not related to the recall. She is not a technician and doesn't actually know the cause yet. They call later in the day and tell me the body control module has shorted out and needs to be replaced. It is no longer communicating with the tcm(the tcm was updated during recall work but the BCM was not.) the two can longer communicate because they are now basically speaking a different language. Of course I am told not related to recall. The next day I get a call saying my battery that was previously working great can no longer pass a test. Someone was trying to crank and start my car( the car that went in for a break peddle that would not depress and would not start) I now need to pay for a new battery and there is an installation fee to replace the battery. Next day my cars steering wheel controls no longer work and something else has shorted out. My rental car not only has trash in the back seat but a roach that crawls out from in between the seats. I get a call that the tech who worked on my car finished at closing time so to bring back the rental next day! I'm thinking my car wont have any more issues, I'm wrong!! the menu on my car lets you view the tire pressure and temperatures of the vehicle. All of a sudden the oil temp doesn't display. The setting for my doors to be unlocked with the hand sensor on driver door wont work!
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hendrick Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge (7630 hendrick auto plaza, concord, nc.) where it was diagnosed that the electrical wires were faulty. The failure was repaired but reoccurred. In addition, while attempting to start the vehicle, the check engine warning light had illuminated and an independent mechanic performed a diagnostic test indicating the throttle body was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,000.
Vehicle stutters while driving came to a red light and my car almost shut off went to the dealer where I purchased the car less than a month ago and they tried telling me this is normal this is a constant thing I have 3 young children and it is a serious safety issue, this is not an intermittent problem
