Prior to recall notification, consumer had the throttle cable replaced on the vehicle, however the manufacturer is refusing to reimburse consumer stating the required conditions were not met.

NHTSA recall 01V037000/ manufacturer's recall 970: Consumer received recall, and called dealer for an appointment on Aug 28, 2001. Dealer stated parts had not come in yet, and should be arriving in about a week. Consumer stated it has been a month and no parts have yet arrived.
Consumer's vehicle was not covered under recall 01V037ooo due to VIN. Dealer denied repairs due to lack of parts. Dealer advised that parts were 8,000 in back order.

Consumer has a stick shift, and driving through traffic one day throttle wouldn't return. At that time there was no recall. Consumer purchased a new throttle and put it on. Consumer located recall 01V037000/ manufacturer's recall 97, )and contacted manufacturer. This vehicle was not included in recall due to VIN. Consumer states upon replacing the cable for the throttle, it was clearly evident that the cable was badly frayed and got caught on the rubber tube and caused an open stuck throttle.
Throttle cable become frayed and stuck. Consumer has been informed that vehicle was not a part of any recall. Consumer states that the cable is frayed where it enters the outer housing near the injector pump.
After returning from myrtle beach, SC I was checking the truck over and noticed three strands of the throttle cable broken and frayed out. This could have been very serious if it had broken or worse yet, had jamed while going through the mountains.

Throttle cable stuck, causing throttle to remain open at about 1600 rpms, and making it very difficult to slow the engine. The replacement cable was a different design, indicating that Chrysler was aware of the problem with the original.
Throttle linkage plastic ends; while driving along suddenly had no control of the RPM of motor. When stepping on the gas pedal, had no control of vehicle, it just idled.
