CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar” warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

First, there was absolutely no prior indication that attention needed to be paid. One day out of nowhere there was a really loud horrible grind noise I heard over my music and closed windows. I brought my car to an immediate stop while rolling my window down. I was stunned. But it didn't make another sound from there to my house (approx. 3 miles). I brought my vehicle in at 7:30 am to have my guys look at what was going on. Driving to the garage nothing, no sound. After about 10-15 minutes, Tory came and told me the inside brake pad on the rear passenger side was sticking and had worn deep grooves by the brake pad that was worn down to the metal. How can something like that happen without any previous warning from the system? Cost to replace pad and rotors $457.

Dealership said "this is the first we've heard of a problem with the caliper". I told them they were full of it. I saw another work order on the desk for the same problem from another customer on the SAME DAY. They replaced 2 rear rotors and pads. They replaced driver side rear caliper. They flushed the brake system. Total was $463 Canadian parts and $416 Canadian labour. Then 4 months later my front brakes were making horrible sounds. Coincidence? Another $750 Canadian to service/clean rear brakes, replace 2 front rotors, front brake lining.

The brake problems are obviously something Ford should address because I know of a few other people with the same caliper issue. The fact that my dealership scammed me all this money to service my brakes means I will never buy a Ford again.

I have a 2013 Ford Edge that made scrubbing sounds from the passenger side wheel when the vehicle was in motion. When the brakes were applied the noise amplified. It was embarrassing to drive this vehicle to my buy the parts and the mechanic. I didn't quite understand why it was making this noise. Because of this I purchased two rotors and brake pads to replace the old ones just in case they couldn't be turned.

I was then brought in to look at what was going on and the inside brake pad on the rear passenger side had deep grooves by the brake pad that was worn down to the metal. This cost me $300 to replace everything. Thank god for my mechanic that slashed the price or I would have probably spent over $500.

I've seen another complaint about this problem and trying to find out what is ford gonna do about it?

At 23,000 mi I took vehicle to my local shop where we checked everything on the vehicle including the brake pads, inner and outer, front and rear. everything was fine with even wear all around. At around 25,000 mi the brakes would grab on long trips and then go away. At 27,400 mi the brakes froze up and the car had to be towed to Ford. Both rear calipers had seized up completely and had ruined the rear inside pads and inside of rotors. Ford replaced Calipers, rotors and pads but charged me labor and for the pads and rotors that were ruined. This defect cost me $325.00 and no vehicle for 5 days. Ford would not cover the down hill damage because the Ford service manager said I abused the vehicle by not having him service the vehicle regularly instead of my mechanics.

I will never go to Summit Ford of Auburn, NY 13021 ever again. I complained to Ford and was told that they stand by their service managers. I will never buy another Ford and I have been a happy Ford customer for 48 years. This experience was so bad that I am now afraid to take my car to any Ford dealership.
