Paint on hood developed a "fish-eye" type bubble, then peeled off in an almost circular pattern. Now showing bare metal. Nothing under hood under this spot to generate heat-related problems/peeling. Looks awful and Ford offered NO assistance on the cost of paint. Ugh.
My wife bought her '09 Escape in April 2011 with 75,000 km's and in great shape. No issues to date except we noticed a couple of months ago a section of paint over the rear wheel well has flaked off. The paint peel is about the size of a toonie. I need to fix as I can see rust starting to form. I've also noticed small brown (rust looking) flakes in the paint on the sides and rear. I'm hoping Ford would cover, but reading this website, it doesn't sound promising...but will still try Ford Canada. Its disappointing that Ford takes less pride in its product than other companies such as Honda. I own a black '08 civic for commuting that has a hood paint issue. Honda has recalled and will repaint regardless of kilometers...and its less of an issue than what I see with the Ford paint peel.
Ford needs to stand by it products. Honestly, who wants to buy one if all you see on the road is a bunch of paint peeled vehicles!!
