I have recently replaced the calipers, brakes, and rotors on my two front wheels. I have not however replaced the rotor for the wheel on the passenger side. After doing some driving, my driver side wheel starts to emit smoke after braking and the car starts to shake.

I purchased this vehicle 4 years ago, I have had to have the brakes "fixed" for this problem 3 times!!!

I have to take the car to Ford because that is where my warranty is just in case something else pops up. Every 10k miles the rotors go out. WTH. This has never happened in any other car I've owned, they keep saying it's "driver habits" or how I drive! BS! I have a work car that I drive half of the time, the work car has NEVER had this problem so if I drove this way wouldn't the rotors go out in that as well!! So irritated!!

I got this Ford Escape on Oct 1, 2011. After a little time I noticed when I put on the brake attenia was shaking. Then I starting feeling a vibration in the steering wheel, seat, & console. It felt like driving a riding lawn mower. I figured it was "breaking in" time and waited till I got to 768 miles to take it in.

The dealership said Ford had a notice and they tried what it suggested. It didn't improve. So I did compare mine with those on lot, mine was worse. Contacted BBB. Had to have 4 repair tickets. Ford offered to send a engineer to check it. He connected it to a machine to measure vibration. Well it was .034g. This was December. They came up with another way to fix it. January 5 took in. They did fix and it was much better. Down to .011g. Happy till January 11 when started feeling vibration coming back, but it doesn't always happen. They had engineer come check it again. Still at.011. Of course it didn't happen when tested.

Ended up going to arbitration and got denied for Ford repurchasing the Escape. I take kids to and from school. I HATE driving it. I make 24 stops with in a 4.5 mile round trip to & from school. Ford says the vibration is with in range of their test. When I test drove it, I didn't feel the vibration. Engineer said I wouldn't have since the computer in it had not turned on the Emissions. That doesn't come on till after 50 miles. So I didn't get a true test drive. Ford doesn't care. I have only 3670 miles on it.

My 2008 Mazda 5 that was rear ended in Sept and had 27207 miles on it. (by a Ford F250 raised up) I keep cars for 10 + years mostly.
