CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Ford Escape has an acceptable complaint history so far, with leaking rear window problems showing up as the main concern so far. NHTSA complaint data shows an early pattern of problems with stalling while driving.

Another concern is the 2012 Escape rolled onto its roof during an NHTSA side impact test so it only received a marginal side impact rating ... not good.

After almost having the Escape for a year, it was raining while attending a funeral and when I used the back wiper I noticed that the water wasn't clearing off and when I was finally able to check it...I was having a major water leak...the back area was soaked. When I brought its attention to Ford...I was told Ford has been having an issue with this in the past and it can be fixed. They fixed it and it happened about 6 months later again...it's fixed again...I keep a towel back in the hack area just in case I have another leak. I haven't had any leaks since they fixed it this past time, except I do have some water in the latch area only, but I've told them about it several times and they act like it's no big deal!!

For the Amount of Money I spent on this Vehicle I shouldn't have to deal with this!!

I am from Washington state and it does rain just a little bit here. my back window has been leaking since the first rain after I purchased it in August 2012. Ford attempted to fix it 6 times they even had their so called field service expert teach the service guys how to properly fix it, that didn't work then the expert himself attempted to fix it guess what, it still leaks. I obtained the services of a lawyer (no charge to me they bill Ford) they sent a letter or filed a suit for the Lemon Law, it's been 3 months and Ford has not responded as of yet, the lawyer sent another letter to them 2 weeks ago and still nothing.

I have had two ford escapes. Never had any problems with the 2007, but with the 2012 escape I haven't had nothing but problems with the back window leaking. It has been back to the dealership 5 times in the last year and a half. Each time they say its fixed, but it leaks again. Getting ready to take it back a sixth time to get it fixed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had 2012 Escape in 4 times now. They can't fix the leak and they know it. Consulted a lawyer yesterday and I'm suing them under the LEMON LAW. All you guys need to do the same thing. Ford is BSing everyone on this water leak issue and people need to stand up and punish them. They get one more chance under the LEMON LAW to fix it. If they fail then they have to buy it back from you. Hope this helps someone. There should be a recall buy Ford is doing a good job lying to people. Check the LEMON LAWS in your state.

This is my 2nd Escape, love them, never had problems with my '02 model. but,

After buying our 2012 Escape, brand new, loved it, until the back window started leaking, carpet soaking wet!!. Took it to the dealer & on the first visit was told, "the hatch window wasn't really meant to be used & to try not to", umm really? Then why is it there? It's been back to the dealer now 5 times!!! Window trim replaced 3 times, brake light fixture replaced because water got in there & fried the wiring & melted the window trim! It's now back at dealer & called Ford Corp. they have decided the best thing to do is replace the window trim AGAIN, & for me to spray some silicone junk around my window trim every couple of months & not use it. For the money I'm paying for this car it needs to be 100% functional!

I did notice the new ford escape have a spoiler trim on the back window to block the rain. Apparently, they figured out how to fix it for the new models, just not the older ones.

I noticed I had scratches on the back window when I got it home of the lot, I had to go into the dealer to show them, then had to go back into the dealer to get the new window put in. Then I noticed it was leaking so had to go back into the dealer to get the leak fixed, now I notice it is still leaking so have to go back in again to have them fix it, hopefully. This is getting really old.

Escape Limited V6

Ford bought back my 2010 Escape because of several problems I was having, but the major problem was a leaking rear window. They put me in a 2012 Escape and lo and behold.... it rained significantly today and the rear window in my new Escape is leaking.

Why can't Ford solve this problem?
