Escape Titanium 4

Car never had any problems, then car said to pull over because of overheating. We took to the Ford dealership and they said it needed a new engine. The car drove fine until this moment. After reading inherent problems with design, we realized this was a big problem causing coolant leaking into cylinder. I know Ford knows about this, as there are many complaints and a class action pending.

Escape Titanium 2.0L V4 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

In October 2019, I purchased a 2015 Ford Escape Titanium with around 68,500 miles on it. After driving it for about 7 months, I notice thick white smoke pouring from my exhaust. Naturally, I took it to the dealership for a diagnosis. I was then told that coolant leaks into cylinders 1 and 3 and causes the white smoke and that the only solution— a new engine— was going to be about $5500. Instead, I had a re-manufactured stock engine with only 18,000 miles on it put in, but then the car wouldn’t start. The transmission wiring harness needed to be replaced. After it was up and running again, a mere 4 hours later, the engine, still with only about 18,000 miles on it, begins blowing white smoke from the exhaust again. Again I take it to the dealership for a diagnostic and I’m told again that I need a new engine and it’ll be about $5500. Now my car has been sitting at the mechanics shop for about 2 months now while the mechanics fight with the warranty company and I haven’t had a car for the last 7 months because I’ve poured about $7500 into repairs just this far. That’s not including the next engine I have to put in it.

Ford won't cover any repairs. Entire engine needs to be replaced at an estimated $8000. This is the same engine that had a recall up until September 2014; our was built in October 2014. Pretty sure whatever problem they had in September is still there.

Escape ES

  • Automatic transmission
  • 113,000 miles

I bought my 2015 Ford Escape. Paid for extended warranty. Now that it's outside of warranty, all kinds of issues. First issue was transmission went out a few months ago - $4500. Before that it was little stuff like back up camera and blue tooth/phone won't sync. Now I have a coolant leak I'm taking it in for tomorrow. I'm sure that will cost me. Other things also wrong with this POS, my valve cover gasket is seeping and my left rear shock is leaking. It has 113,000 on it, but still... Super frustrated and poor.

Car was taken to dealership service department, was told they could not determine where the coolant was going as it was not leaking out of the car. They acknowledged the issue was the coolant was leaking in the engine. They could not determine the cause nor resolution therefore the Ford engineers were contacted and instructed the service department to run numerous tests. After my car was in the service for over a month I was told the engine would most likely need to be replaced. A week later they told me to pick up my car as there was nothing they could find wrong although the leakage was still in question. My warranty has a few hundred miles left and so they told me to drive my car around to see if the coolant stays in the engine for them to find. So is there an issue or is the problem the expiration of the warranty and me using up the miles so that they will not have to replace my engine.

Shame on Ford and the dealership who sells cars under their logo.

How can you send a person home with an unrepaired car just so you don't have to fix the problem or replace the engine,

What happened to the safety of the customer, the engine light never came on although there was no antifreeze in the engine.
