The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the front driver-??s side door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the door was not available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 19,000.
Spot welds on the left front door check arm attachment to the car door broke. It is available for inspection. The door is no longer limited in motion and can fly open in an uncontrolled manner. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and SSM 50150 by NHTSA shows this is a known problem to the manufacturer, Ford. There was no warning or symptom prior to the failure.

The contact stated that only one door was repaired by a certified mechanic and the other was yet to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure caused the door to make a lot of grinding and cranking sound while being opened out wide.
