Since purchase, we noticed the truck hiccupped. Shut off for couple seconds. Hardly noticed. We asked about it as it happened rarely... One time every 3-4 weeks. We questioned... nothing wrong... maybe glitch... computer said no error... which means... no problem. Felt we were annoying Ford. Moved on and actually moved. Initially lots of highway miles. Mentioned oil consumption... and we were told Ford was giving new dip stick. Current was too small.

We thought we'll just check oil earlier and top off before oil change. No indication of oil leak. 2019, truck began to quit and literally shut down. Once on highway 401 it quit and we were travelling 120km in the 5th lane. We had to move over to side of highway through traffic with no power. Tow it in to Ford... no light... starts up fine... runs fine... until the next time. Repeat repeat repeat...

Long story short, it was never fixed, and the oil consumption Ford blamed on us. The truck quitting never showed a computer error. Ford USA opened a Lemon file for us until realizing we were Canadian and transferred us. Ford Canada has had several files open for us. They said it was timing chain... catalytic converter... stuff was replaced... but it's still quitting. We were told we were past warranty and couldn't open a new file. Called crying and angry because it was still quitting and Ford sent us solicitation!! They said we could open another case a year later. Active since Sept/21... Ford caught it quitting and hooked up to computer and showed solenoids(4) for a $3,760.00 price tag. Ford is supposed to help with cost....Really?!?! Is it the oil consumption that created this problem?!? We had their fix done last month recalibration and dip stick... it's still quitting and still using oil. Would this not be considered unsafe to drive!! I am shocked a retirement gift for my husband could turn into such heartache. You say list each problem... I believe Ford USA was right stating we received a "Lemon". HELP!!

Our first F-150 (2017 2.7L turbo) had a turbo blow up and damage the engine with 40k km on it. We trade it in, and got a non-turbo 2018 F-150 5.0L V8. Well, these excellent V8 engines seem to consume excessive amounts of oil. At first, the Ford service advisor said our oil drain plug was leaking. It was replaced. They then did the TSB software update and increased the dipstick range to 2L. That didn't fix things. We now have an oil consumption test going. It has been 2000 km since the oil change, and we've also used 1L of oil. Ford specs are no more than 1 L in 4800 km. The Ford service advisor tried to explain to me that someone at the factor may have put the cylinder sleeves in backwards or something? Looks like we'll be getting a new engine, but I hope the new one doesn't use oil too. In addition to this, we of course have a 10 spd transmission that slams and clunks, and some type of vibration while you accelerate.

It is absolutely embarrassing to say that I own a ford. All I ever owned was Ford. This will be the last one, and thanks to Ford for doing nothing about this issue. The first trip to mountains I put 5 quarts in. My last oil change I put 8 quarts. There is no reason for this s***. The 2018 f150 is the worst truck I have ever own. And it will be the last, thanks to Ford.

excessive oil consumption / rattling noise

I'm on my 2nd engine and 2nd oil change on new engine with 3600 miles on the 2nd oil change. It's now below the last hole on the dipstick. I had to literally get into a big argument with the dealership before they admitted something was wrong with the first engine. They had my truck for 2 months before they replaced the engine. I went out today to check the oil level as I checked when I picked it up - it was full and it's now at the bottom of the dipstick. Looks like I'm in for another fight with them - I'm sick of this truck.

There is a cold start rattle that is very loud and and occurs when accelerating between 4th and 5th gears under load and will last continually until the engine is completely warm. Ford service "repaired" once with new timing chain and cam phasers (which took 59 days due to no parts) but it did not help the noise.

I plan to try one more time to get a repair but the service team would have to drive it more than just around the block, and that hasn't occurred the last two visits. Now that it is winter again it is really prevalent, while it didn't do it in the summer and fall.

I purchased this truck new from Kitchener Ford, Ontario, Canada in January, 2018. The problems started with this truck at 7,000 km when I reported to the service department in Kitchener Ford that the check engine light appeared on 06/04/2018. By 26,000 km I started reporting the oil consumption of the engine, which I used to check every 4,000 km, after noticing that the dipstick was dry, which obviously worried me.

In Fall 2019 this issue was escalated and I was told the engine may need to be replaced. After a very long story of engine oil / coolant consumption issues and monitoring the oil level every service and then taking the truck back to them every 2,000 km, then taking it back for more tests and more tests and programming.

I dropped off the truck on January 24 and picked up the rental truck which I transferred all my tools to (I am a contractor by trade, and of course the rental truck I was provided with did not have a tonneau cover, so I wasn’t able keep any tools in the back which was an inconvenience, to say the least). On January 29, 2020, I got a call that my truck was ready, but by accident, someone in the service department had broke the front license plate cover but had ordered a new one for me, and I was asked to come back the next day to have it fixed, which I was fine with.

I went back the next day, January 30, to fix the new plate cover and I requested a road test with someone from the workshop to listen to a rattling noise that has been bothering me since I bought the truck (at every service, I had explained the noise to the service advisor, his answer was always , “Ohh, it’s normal for your F150”). Luckily, the smart technician heard the noise and said that it was in fact not normal, but when he lifted the truck for further inspection he noticed an excessive oil leak. (The noise was from the camshaft solenoid which solved the problem. Thanks to that smart technician again.)

After noticing the oil leak, I was told the truck could not be released to me, so again I was forced to wait for a rental Ford Fusion, because Enterprise didn’t have a truck available. Again, I transferred my tools to another vehicle. I got the call finally in the afternoon Feb 13 and went to collect my truck at 3:30pm

Over the next few days, I noticed a terrible smell inside the cabin of burned oil, as well as a gas smell, so I opened the hood to check what’s going on and discovered that the coolant level is below the minimum level, and there were oil spots on the engine head.

On Tuesday Feb 18 I started my day heading to work and while driving the engine warning light came on and a low oil pressure message showed on the screen. The engine began making really loud noises and smoke started coming from the engine compartment. I managed to pull over and opened the hood to see that all the engine oil was everywhere with no oil in the engine at all, So I called Ford roadside assistance to send me a tow truck, which took another two hours.

I was told this time it was the O ring of the external oil cooler, which they replaced along with the cracked windshield which they broke during the repair as well.

On Feb 24 I picked up my truck finally, but when I left the dealership the rattling noise from the engine was still so loud and I could still smell burnt oil in the cabin. I opened the hood to notice fresh oil leaks on the engine cover, and every time I park I notice an oil spot underneath the engine, and even the coolant level is below minimum again (almost no coolant in the tank).

I contacted Ford Canada and they will send me to another dealership to fix it and i don't know where this is going but i'm sick of this truck.
