The contact owns a 2000 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently stall when attempting a turn at any speed, in either direction. The failure would occur most often when attempting left turns. Once the contact was able to restart the vehicle it would operate as normal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that the crank shaft was shifting back and forth, causing the crank shaft position sensor to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the power windows were inoperable except for the front driver window. The failure mileage was 93,000 and the current mileage was 117,000.

Ford Focus electric window motor replacement because of plastic parts. Must replace the motor to get the plastic window parts. This has happen to 3 out of four windows and the price to replace is $200 - $300 each window. This is a common problem with all Focus owners all over the nation.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus as does my ex both having the same year make and model of the Ford Focus! the problem in which we both have encountered is that 3 out of the 4 windows in our cars no longer work the windows at first would make a popping sound on some others just broke suddenly. Now when I say broke the motors to all the windows still work but the plastic clip that holds the window on the tracks. I recently took my car to have safety and admissions done and was not able to pass safety do to the fact that my drivers side window does not role down. What I have been forced to do is all three of the windows not working are either held up by tape or a door stop from the inside. Do to my windows having to be held in the manner they are I am constantly worried about my car being an easy target for a break in thus I don't have the comfort level I feel I should with my own vehicle. I haven't been able to fix the windows yet due to the high cost of nearly $200 per window. As I see it this would have to be a factory default seeing if it had only happened to one window maybe a fluke but three of my four also three of the four on my ex's vehicle too!!!

On 10/23/07 I inserted key into ignition of my Ford Focus and immediatley the lights and gauges went haywire-vehicle failed to start. To make a long story short, after unpluging the battery cables and going back to the stranded car the next evening, it started. 2 days later my wipers came on by themselves and would not stop until I turned the car off and restarted. On 10/31/07 while driving my daughter home, the vehicle began accelerating and deccelertaing uncontrollably. I pulled of the highway and when I opened the drivers door, the seatbelt light began blinking and making a loud ticking noise. This had happened the night prior, but I thought maybe the button was depressed. My dome lights make a screeching noise and blink on and off. This is a serious problem that needs to be looked into. Whenever something like this happens I am driving home late at night and of course the dealer is not open to help me. My car is almost paid off and I will not invest more than what it is worth, which is only about $2,500.too bad I have paid about $18,000 for it. I would also like to know why I have not received recalls for the following problems: 1. 1st month after purchase, electrical system running airbags, mirrors, doors etc. Failed. 2. 37,000 miles- transmission failed 3. 42,000 miles- power door locks failed and soon after passenger doors stuck in the lock position. 4. all window tracks have failed. 5. wheel bearings replaced. 6. trunk latch failed 7. ignition failed and was replaced and is going again. 8. brought in for 1 recall (fuel filter) and still didn't correct problem with vibration and lurching. This is a vehicle that exceeds highway saftey ratings? something will be done about this if I must hire an attorney- I am out a lot of money and no vehicle.

: the contact stated while attempting to engage the power window control, the front driver side power window failed to open without warning. After initial inspection by the contact, the left rear passenger side power window failed to operate as well. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer, who determined the power windows were worn, and failed due to normal wear and tear. The manufacturer was not alerted.

My husband went to the store with daughter on a rainy day. The passenger side window came crashing down. In trying to fix the problem. We found that the 2 brackets that hold the window up has 2 plastic arms which had broken. I have contacted Ford about the issue and has said that at this point there is no recall. So they are going to do anything about it. I believe that a broken window in the snow belt is a safety issue. So I'm bringing this issue to you. Thank you R.battles.

: the contact stated all four power doors failed to lock from the inside and/or outside intermittently. Also, the rear passenger and driver's side windows would not roll down. The driver and passenger's side front windows rolled up/down intermittently. Sometimes the horn failed to sound. The manufacturer determined the problem was because of excessive dirt and dust around the contact's residence. The drivers door would not open. Updted 09/22/06.

I own a 2000 Ford Focus and among all the recalled parts I've fixed the car continues to have problems. The car jumps either when I press the gas or if the car is in idle. I've brought it to a mechanic and they thought it had to do with the oil leaking in my spark plugs which they fixed and gave me a tune up with all Ford parts. Of course now they suggest bringing it to the dealer and have Ford run tests. I've probably have gotten something fixed on my car every 6 months for the past 3 years. Also I've had to replace 3 windows due to the device that pulls it up and down broke. And now my key won't start the car. I can't start my ignition because of the key lock/pin is defective. What more do I have to go through for Ford to recall or fix this car, get in an accident and get hurt myself.

I have had this car since 2003 and it has been nothing but trouble. I have had it into the shop for many of the previously stated repairs- ignition lock, revving/ gas line sticking, broken windshield with no outside cause, cracked side mirrors from cold, etc. This week my rear window fell into the door and would not roll up. The estimate is close to $400. I have had other problems, so many I can't recall them all now. I would advise others to avoid Ford products in the future- I certainly will.

This complaint is concerning clarification of our previous complaints to NHTSA regarding the 2000 Ford Focus : #10104088 and #10107840. I am extremely concerned about the misinterpretation of data collected by your Agency and posted for public review. Deaths are not posted, nor are they included as injuries. This misrepresents the seriousness of the vehicle and equipment failures reported.

Fatality vehicle fire, Dec. 8 2004. My husband is the original owner of a 2000 Ford Focus, subject to numerous service visits to bill brown Ford, livonia mi for: Ignition, steering column, wheel bearing, brake, rear window control, seat belt &trunk latches, overhead light and engine light. The vacuum line & fuel pump & valve assembly were replaced 2/03, followed by stalling. In 6/03, A/C compressor & manifold line replaced. Fuel line & pump failure in 8/03, resulted in gasoline spill on residential street minutes after parking. Bogging followed repairs, PCM reprogrammed & leaking pvc tube replaced 1/04. Fuel pump again replaced. In 8/04, our 24 year old son took ownership of this problematic car. We are uncertain as to whether vehicle malfunction caused a 35 mph collision with a fire hydrant. An immediate engine explosion and fuel fed fire trapped my son and his passenger. Described by police as a relatively minor crash which would not be expected to claim lives, the subsequent unexplained engine fire claimed two young lives. A malfunctioning driver's airbag was also detected. This incident was originally reported to NHTSA by my husband (#10104088). I am supplying these additional facts for your clarification. Please correct your posting of "0" injuries as there were 2 fatalities. Please take effective action to save lives, as these trouble plagued vehicles seem to become more lethal as they age. Confirmation of receipt of this information is requested.

On both rear windows (electric), the plastic part at the bottom of the window has broken, making the window inoperable. The part secures the cables for raising and lowering the windows. In both cases, they broke simply from closing the door.

2000 Ford Focus...purchased new in May 2000.....presently has 30,350 miles on it. I have had three of the four automatic windows break within the past ten months. The first on broke in June, possibly July 2003 (back left window), the next one to break was the back right window, and today, April 30, the front driver's side window is broken. Motor starts to grind and then stops responding to the on/off button and will not move the window...which then slips all the way down into the door panel. Since my car is now out of warranty the dealership doesn't seem to think that having three different windows malfunction odd. I do not have young children that roll the windows up and down an unuseual number of times...in fact, I seldom roll down the back windows and only use the driver's window when going to the bank, or such things. I find it hard to believe with all of the recalls and other problems that this vehicle has had that this is not yet another one.

I purchased my 2000 Ford Focus SE from merlin motors in saskatoon. Production date - May 2/2000, stock no. PP24941, R.O. no. 155631. I believe this car was previously owned by someone in british columbia. Here is a chronological breakdown of repairs. April 17/01 - took car in because driver mirror vibrated badly when driving - so badly that I could not look into it, it was shaking that much. Also, the trunk would not open from the release inside the car. Parts were ordered at this time. Vehicle kilometers- 32854. June 19/01 - they checked for driver mirror vibrating when driving and replaced driver side exterior mirror. The also checked for trunk not opening from the release inside the car, they replaced the trunk stop and adjusted. Vehicle kilometers- 35222 June 20/01 - they checked for power steering leak and replaced steering rack and set toe. Vehicle kilometers- 37782?? (this is obviously an error - I know I did not drive 2, 560 km in one day!) I also did not complain about the power steering and don't recall why my car was in there at the time. Sept 21/01 - they repaired rattle in right front going over bumps, tightened all assemble bolts in front end, removed right caliper and rotor, lubed all bushing, adjusted front splash shields, found tie rod bolt loose and tightened. They also fixed molding on window belt, which was loose and checked inside rear view mirror and found it flawed - part on order. Vehicle kilometers- 43170. Nov 3/01 - we were driving in saskatoon when engine started to boil. We knew this because of steam coming from the hood, all gauges in the car read normal! we took car to merlin - they could find nothing wrong with the car after their checks, and told us to bring it back if it happened again! work order for this date states: Customer saw steam coming from under hood, antifreeze pooled on engine, gauge read normal, steam coming from overflow tank - fill with A/freeze, pressure test for leaks, no leaks found.

Started experiencing problems with the vehicle after purchase. Suddenly in August, all power systems/computer type items began to fail -- power locks, trunk release. Then, car began (and still does) to sputter and shake when stopped/idle until it would shutdown. Also, the radio/cd player would shut off. Checked for tsbs for the vehicle model & year and found at least 15. When I took the car to the dealer (world Ford sandy springs) we were told that they are technical service bulletins and that we would have to pay to have the car repaired. Only official Ford recall notices, not even ntsa recall notices, would be honored. On top of this, we would be expected to pay $90 per complaint batch (the tsb list was batched in to 3 main areas)for diagnostic purposes and if any of the complaints were related to a recall, the $90 would be refunded as applicable. I expressed that if Ford issued a tsb and the ntsa issued a recall notice, then I should not have to pay to have the car worked on.
