2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

About These NHTSA Complaints:
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Fuel cap codes, emission control codes and throttle actuator control code are now on all the time. I had taken it back to Ford, but light had went out at the time. I was told that the codes do not log in ECM. I was told they could hook up equipment, there would be no codes and the cost $90. I left. On a short trip this weekend we had problems with all codes staying on and new one for throttle when cruise would not set. I stopped at autozone and they could print out stored codes. They are P0455, P0457, P2119. They have performed and throttle recall once and I have a letter from Ford about a recall, but no response as of yet. As of today the dash service wrench has reset. The problems start over a year ago on trips to fla. But lights always seamed to reset after several key recycles. Reported my Ford Fusion electronic throttle body issue yesterday. Lost power while driving in rush hour traffic on the freeway - terrifying exerience. It is field service action 13N03. Took to dealership today and they can't diagnose because the wrench light is not on right now. Reading post, other owners state light goes on and off until car is drivable. My car just started acting up, but I can't get it fixed since it is not a recall. This car is unsafe to drive. I've attached my conversation with Ford customer service chat.
Throttle body accelerator. Started the vehicle, engine and wrench light on. Car acceleration was jerky, almost stalled, and underpowered. Internet states this is a common problem, but no recall.
Since the recall was done, my powertrain has not ran right. I don't know if this the problem, but I didn't have the problems until afterwards. Problem starts in the morning.
Vehicle loses acceleration a wrench illuminates on the dash and I have both P2111 and P2112 trouble codes with a check engine light on. At highway speed the vehicle had to coast to the side and be restarted in order to accelerate. 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid with 46,900 miles on it.

While driving at highway speeds my vehicle lost power (I.e. the engine and electronics stayed active, however my accelerator no longer was operable). I coasted to the side of the road and my engine began to operate in a rough manner. I also noticed that my RPM indicator was bouncing erratically from low to about half way along the dial. My check engine light also illuminated. I shut the vehicle down and immediately turned it back on and operation was restored.
Car in motion rapidly decelerated on major highway at speed of 65 mph. Code on computer showed a throttle body issue. Ford has agreed to replace throttle body
Worn axle shaft seal at only 83,000 miles. Possible poor surface finish on the axle shaft. Transmission fluid leaking from the drivers front half shaft.
While driving on the interstate at about 70 miles per hour, my power steering went out. I could do nothing to restore it. That was about a year and a half ago. I took it to a Ford dealer and they wanted $100 to look at it and $1800 to repair it. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford the cost of repairs. It went out at 51,000 miles. Shortly after this hapened the transmission start leaking. I have to add 2 quarts per month. I have called Ford several times and they have no recalls on this year. Over 90% of the complaints on this web site have to do with 2010 Ford Fusion steering problems. My wife can longer drive this car and due to heart surgery there are times when I can not drive it. I finally contacted a lawyer and the state of West Virginia attorney generals office. I have been a faithful form customer for many years and this is the biggest piece of junk it has ever been my displeasure to own. My next step is to quit making payment on it. I still owe $14,000 on this piece of scrap metal.
1st time, I was stopped at a red light after driving 50 miles when the light turned green, I stepped on the gas, the car rev'd like the car was in neutral and would not go into gear. After several tries, it went into gear and drove ok. The 2nd time, I was traveling about 60 mph, and the car started reving at 4,000 rpms and lost all power. I pulled over, put it in neutral and back in gear several times till it started again. I pulled out again on the 4 lane and the car continued reving at around 4,000 rpms and had no power so I got off the road again. The "wrench" trouble light lit up. I turned the car off, sat about 5 minutes, started it back up and it worked fine. I took it straight to a Ford dealer who could not find out what was wrong with it.
Transmission is leaking just like the hundreds of others I'm reading about on forums and it sounds like a very common problem that must be constantly repaired.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving 25 mph, the transmission failed to shift into second gear and the engine reduced power and check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was recently repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 15V793000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 123,000.
Vehicle shuts down while cruising on the freeway. The wrench light came on. Lost control of throttle and had to pull over to the shoulder. The car wouldn't rev up or anything. After turning the car off and starting it back up again it drove fine and the wrench light disappeared.
Suspected crack in fuel tank due to smell of gasoline under car continuous since summer of 2015, plus clutch regularly slips now also as though problem in transmission.
On Friday November 6th 2015 after doing some appointments and errands, I started my car in the parking lot and a warning lit up "power steering assist fault" and the car would not steer. When I put it in drive another warning came on "advance trac failure" with a picture of a car swerving. I drove it to my mechanic steering with great difficulty and care about three blocks away. He told me I needed a new drive train but the Ford dealer said the part was on national back order, they could not say how long it would take to get. My car is 5 years old with 136,000 miles. I have never had any other issues with this vehicle and this happened very suddenly for the first time. My car is well maintained and serviced regularly. Ford Motor Co and two dealers say this is not under warranty because of the mileage and the part alone cost $1649. They all said they have never heard of this problem happening before now but their are many complaints of this problem that have been reported to NHTSA. Is this being investigated for possible recall?
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion sel AWD V6 which I purchased about 2 years ago. I have started noticing shifting problems with my car. It first started about 3 weeks ago now. The car acted like it couldn't figure out what gear to go in, while making a left turn through traffic it hesitated a lot & then figured out what gear to get into, barely avoiding an accident. I was then coming back from the airport with my sister & it clammed down in gears as we started to stop & then lunged forward 2 times almost hitting the car in front of me. I have taken it into the shop & they said they needed to reflash the PCM, this was done the day before yesterday. I got it back yesterday & it started doing the exact same things. I have seen that a recall notice was sent out to some people years ago with a time limit on getting this fixed. Recall notice 10B15. It said it ended in April of 2011. Can thr be a time limit on this sort of thing? some people don't have $1,000's of dollars to fix cars. What can someone do to correct this issue.
