Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

My name is marcos orbegoso, I have a Ford Fusion 2012, I am the owner from this car, but my brother in law is the principal ( wagner alvarez ). im spending too much money about this car and Ford always has a excuse so that they dont want to cover the warranty. My problem always is the same ( power steering get hard and my engine flashing it needs to be check),I dont have money to resolve every two month when my car is not working. The last problem was two days ago, the same problem, they told me I had to make alignment that why my steering power steering got hard, I went to store repair ( Firestone to fix ), when I went back to Ford, they was telling different excuse about my steering power. My last problem with my car I was recording all conversation, but they didn't notice it, in this conversation is included the manager carlos becerra, his secretary lidia radford, mechanics, telling that's why my car is not working. I recorded everything. This is the fourth time that my car has the same problem. Now I asked lidia radford, why my engine is flashing ? she told, before to see what happens with my car, I had to pay $79 if I want to know about it. My car has 97000 miles, my car still has warranty. I hope you can help with my case, because I dont know what to do to fix my car. I cant drive my car now. I dont speak english so much, but my brother in law, he can speaks better. Turned on A/C and it only would blow hot air. Tried several times, some times hot, some times cold. Tech at Ford replaced blend door actuator, said actuator was not moving. Fix lasted 5 minutes, then started blowing hot air again.

While driving at 45-50mph the engine lost all power and the wrench light came on. I pulled over and the car started to skip and turned off. I sat a few minutes and cranked the car again. The light was off and the car went with no problem.I took it to a shop to see if any codes would show in the computer. Nothing showed. The following day I was driving at 60mph and it did the exact same thing. I took it back to the shop a code P2111 "throttle actuator control system stuck open" showed. On the way home, driving at 50mph it did the exact same thing again.

At first the RPM's would increase ( around 500 RPM's) when the car upshifted when it was cold. As the motor and transmission warmed up the increase in RPM's upon upshift lessened. It appeared to me that the transmission was "slipping" as it went through the could hear the engine speed up and watch the tach to confirm what I was hearing from the engine. I took car to dealer and they checked it out. They said everything was functioning normally however the car still does it. Note that the car was under the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty at the time and the service advisor said that the car has a 60K powertrain warranty anyway. I did not like his statement. The problem seems to be getting worse as it sometimes revs between shifts when it is warmed up. Ford should step up and review my problem further. I plan to take the car to another Ford dealer to see what they say. Please advise.

Driver's side front door would not open from the interior. Had to roll windows down and open from the outside. Upon further inspection, the lever, inside the door was broken off and would not engage the door release. The entire door handle component was replaced. There was no abnormal use or forces applied to the handle, and the handle itself seems to be intact and operational from visual inspection.

I have had numerous problems with stalling, loss of acceleration, dying with my Fusion. It hesitates when driving and stalls when driving and stopped. The wrench and engine light are on again. I am very concerned for my safety due to these issues as there is never any warning of when it's going to occur. I have previously had my throttle body repaired/replaced but the same problems continue.

I bought a 2012 Ford Fusion July 8, 2015. I noticed the drivers side inside door handle was a little floppy and not flush like the other handles. Then, I discovered when I use the lock button on my key fob, the drivers side door does not lock. Have to use key hole lock. I know there is a recall on the newer models, I think this model needs a recall as well!

On 10/5/2013, I had to call roadside rescue to jump start car. I took vehicle to advance auto on 10/6/2013 to test battery. The printout results found, indicator light was yellow, cold cranking amps 500 on battery, temperature was to high at 124degrees. On 10/7/2013, call roadside rescue to jumpstart vehicle. I let the vehicle idle for a bit, hoping to recharge the battery back to full function. On 10/8/2013 called roadside rescue to jumpstart vehicle for the 3rd time and then drove to Ford dealership. With great hesitation, Ford replaced the battery. I had to tell the technician to look at the battery's yellow light.

Driving along at around 40 miles per hour, then notice the loss of power, a bright yellow light appeared on the dash - stop safely hazard warning (rtt) - which according to the owners handbook indicates hybrid component fault/failure that will cause the vehicle to shutdown (which it had already down, I had a hard time turning the steering wheel). Failed to re-start the first time or enter into a limited operating mode, seems like ray skillman Ford, greenwood, Indiana could not find any problems. This $31,000 vehicle has only 1,400 miles on the clock and per standard operating procedure denies any problems with the vehicle.

When shifting from first gear to second gear the car will very roughly go into gear, and second to third and third to fourth is not much better. From fourth to fifth and fifth to sixth is fine most of the time. I had two calibration updates performed by the Ford dealership I purchased the car from and was told to drive the car and let the update set in. After both times I noticed that the problem did not go away, instead after the last update the issue progressed. I have pleaded with the dealership to trade my car for another Fusion (same value) and they told me I had too much negative equity. Instead I was told I could get a Ford Focus and how ever much I am "upside down" they would roll it over to the price of the Focus. I told them that wasn't fair and that I wanted another Fusion that did not have transmission problems. I was told that planet Ford could not help me and I should get another opinion if I was unhappy. So I went to anderson Ford and had the mechanics run diagnostics on it to see if they could identify the problem. While anderson Ford was diagnosing my car I was given a rental Fusion that was so much better than my car as far as shifting. I also was speaking with Ford customer care about my issue and wendy (customer service manager) told me that if anderson Ford did not find anything wrong I was going to be stuck with that car. Anderson Ford reported that no warning codes could be found and the car was fine. I told them the difference I noticed in driving the rental Fusion and my Fusion and the service manager disregarded it. I was given my car back and was told if I was not comfortable with it I needed to trade it in and deal with the negative equity. I have spoken with several dealers about different cars and I am unable to trade my car in because I have too much negative equity. Please help me on thisissue so I can get a car that operates correctly.
