- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may a fluid leak on the cross member under the transmission. Technician should clean the area then check the fluid level of the transmission and add dye to the transmission and operate long enough to mix the dye in with the fluid and reevaluate the transmission for a leak. If no leak is found it is possible that when the powertrain was installed into the chassis at the assembly plant residual oil from the shipping plug was allowed to drip onto the cross member.
