I bought the truck with 3000 miles on it. I found the cracked steering knuckle after I had the truck for five days. The crack was were the lower ball joint goes through the knuckle. I drove it back to the dealer and they gave me a rental truck. They said it was unsafe to drive it. If the knuckle broke all the way it could have been a very bad day.
I think there should be a recall on 2018 GMC Canyons to check the steering knuckles for cracks and replace them as needed. The dealer is replacing mine under the warranty, but my truck has been at the dealers for a month now. They can not get a new steering knuckle. They are working on it but they don't know how long it will take to get a new knuckle.
