I just am trouble shooting a problem with my Dad's 2006 Honda Accord V6 that he bought second hand from a friend of ours that owns a pawn shop. It has had power steering issues from day 1 but because it sat for a while and was very low on power steering fluid we thought that was all there was to it but boy was I wrong. I am so glad that I found this website because I am going to be on Honda like white on rice. Thanks so much!

We recieved a letter in Oct.2012 stating ther was a recall on our 2006 Honda Accord. They said a power steering hose was to be replaced because it could smoke or catch on fire. So we took the car where we bought it, to Robertson Honda. North Hollywood ca.The service manager stated that the hose in the recall was not leaking .And he would not replace it! But he stated that our Rack&pinion was leaking, and the reservoir was no good, plus other hoses were leaking. We were very surprised when he gave us an estimate for repairs of $1589.80. So we declined, and went home! The following week we took our car to Miller Honda in Van Nuys,Ca. For the same recall-hose. now they stated that the Rack&Pinion was not leaking, but that one hose was leaking. Not the Recall-Hose. They also said two motor mounts were broken, and my rear brakes were low. Miller Honda was correct about the motor mounts, and We knew the rear brakes were low. But that is not what We went in for. They wanted $1590.80 for that estimate. Notice the Prices. Very suspicious, I think we were going to be Duped into something made up. We finally went to my reputable mechanic, who fixed our motor mounts, cleaned all the hoses, and found out the master brake cylinder was leaking. Robertson Honda technician did not check the Rack&Pinion because the oil on the hoses was brake fluid, not power steering fluid. They should be investigated, because there were many other people there for the same problem----- aRecall power Steering hose which neither Dealer replaced. We sure hope other people come forward and tell their experiences with those Dealers A footnote my mechanic fixed it all for under $1000.00
