Severe neck pain - Had an older 2008 Accord for almost 3 years and drove about 60000 miles and never had this neck pain.. It all started when i switched to a new 2017 Accord Sport SE. Extreme pain in the neck which is extending up and downwards lately. I believe the seat and the head rest are badly designed.

I have been in horrible pain since the day I started driving our new accord. My neck and lower back are constantly aching, after long drives it takes weeks to recover. We are looking into selling our car at a significant loss because I can’t continue to live in so much pain. If only I had thought to research this before we leased our car.

Accord EXL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

The seats are hard as rocks. I did not notice it as much when I test drove the vehicle for about 2 miles. You definitely do feel every bump in the road. The padding in the seat is very thin. I am also experiencing back problems after driving the vehicle on short trips and on longer trips my left leg gets numb. Very disappointed. I believe that its a combination of suspension and seat deficiencies.

Drivers Seat was very uncomfortable. Set off sciatica and lower back pain, big time, every time I drove it, even a few Kms. This was the Touring model! Passenger seat not much better. Service dept looked at it, no changes. Honda would not buy it back!

Couldn't stand it, traded it in on another Brand of car, took a big loss on the trade-in at 1600 km.

In the future, I will not even consider a Honda product. All I can say further is that it was a pretty car.

Update from Aug 30, 2017: As another poster mentioned, the head rests are at the wrong angle and height for me and perhaps others. Seems, like this car is designed for tall people. If so, then the salespeople should make a point of this feature.

Accord EX-L Hybrid

  • CVT transmission

The headrests (restraints) on this 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid are awful. I'm 5'2", and leaning back in a seat too much isn't really an option. So, as I sit generally upright or only slightly reclined, the headrests push my neck forward so much I've been in pain for over a week now. I've tried adjusting them up and down, and neither has provided any relief. I've reclined to the point of being somewhat uncomfortable but even that doesn't help enough as I'm then straining to see the dash and view properly. My neck is killing me. I don't know anyone who can bend the posts, and certainly don't want to void the warranty. Are there other options? Maybe some aftermarket substitute? This is such a problem that I may need to take the car back. Help!

Update from Aug 13, 2018: Since the last post, I ended up having to trade in the Accord Hybrid. I had multiple friends look at the headrests, including one physical therapist, and they all agreed that the headrests were not good, particularly for shorter people and likely wouldn't have been noticeable during a test drive. I traded it in for another Honda, but took a gigantic loss between what I got for the trade in and what I had to spend on the new one. Any lawyers out there who'd like to take this on?

Bought 2017 Honda Sport in Jan 2017. My back started paining. Initially I was not aware that my new car is causing it. Then I monitored closely and found that its BUCKET seats are causing my lower back pain.

My wife too complained about the same thing. She had started having neck pain as well.

Honda is great car. No other Issues. But seats...SUCKS.

I didn't EXPECT THIS FROM HONDA.

Dear Honda - Pls this is minor cost for you but big relief for your customers. Pls change your seats(specially front ones) before people start saying HONDA SUCKS.

Thanks !

Accord Sport SE 4-cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 100 miles

Bought a 2017 Accord Sport Special Edition less than a week ago. I am 6'2" and on the heavy side, so I wanted a model that had power seats for maximum adjustment and no moonroof for best headroom. I test drove the car 3 times, for 20-30 min each and it was OK. Since I am outside the average size range, I never expect any car to be so comfortable anyway.

After driving daily to work (30min ea way) for less than a week, I started developing a stabbing pain in the middle of by back on the left side, like if something is poking me pretty hard. I poked around on the seat and realized that the side airbag module has very little padding and does not take a lot of pressure for my back to be pushing against it. My last car didn't have side air bags so I never thought to check for this. It was an 02 Accord which was totaled after 14 years of use with no problems at all so I never thought to research complaints online.

Contacted the dealer and they told me that my choices are to sell the car or trade it in or get used to it. The response is not surprising. I realize I am stuck with this car, but my goal in writing this complaint is to add to the voices of warning for future potential Accord buyers - beware!

Accord EX-L

I purchased a 2017 Honda Accord ex within a week I realized the horizontal line in the seat of the front drivers chair was causing pain that was getting worse not better. I thought the seat was new and would get better.it seemed like line a metal under the stitching in the seat that was pressing into my skin.I called the dealer on the 8th day and was offered another car to drive. After finding the same problem in the same color car I decided to spend an extra $2000 and get the ex-l thinking the cloth seats were the problem. After a week of driving the leather seat as much I try to convince myself the seats aren't comfortable. I'm extremely disappointed with this high priced purchase. If I could have just returned the ex and gotten my money back I would have, I spent 10000 less on my Mazda and was happy with it for ten years and was hoping that would be the case with this car. the seat is too important to not be comfortable. I have to find a solution. May have to trade it in and go to another dealership. I will not buy another Honda. Had high expectations having driven my brothers Accord several years ago and found the seat extremely comfortable. I was looking for this in my Accord, but I'm pretty disappointed. The stitching feels so hard in the seat I wonder how they could think these seats would be comfortable.
