Bought the car used at around 50K Nov. 2021 and the A/C seemed to work when I tested it. Fast forward to the beginning of 2022 summer (June) - as soon as the temperature went over 72 the A/C would not work; just pushed out the outside temp air (which when it hit 90+, I was a miserable sap). I finally was able to take it to the dealership and had them diagnose to find out if the issue was a leak/broken compressor or condenser. Luckily, it was a leaking condenser and was covered under a warranty so I only had to pay $76 for the dye. Service Tech mentioned that this is a common issue with the 2018s; so, I have a new condenser and hopefully (knock on wood) no more A/C issues seeing as the refrigerant is R1234 and expensive AF.

Brought car in for oil change and reported AC problem. They suggested that refrigerant was needed in order to access if there is a leak. They also suggested to bring back the car after a week to measure the amount of refrigerant. Car has not been used due to COVID and warranty lapsed.

Update from Apr 13, 2021: Brought the car back after a week. It was determined that a new condenser was needed. It was not under warranty, so they suggested that I call customer service. After calling customer service, they created a case # and would call back. After several calls, Honda customer service explained that the service department needed to call customer service to help with this case before repairs were done and payment was made. I am at a loss of $1,000 since my Honda service department did not call Honda customer care first. Does not seem fair for such a young car.

Accord Touring 1.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 363 miles

I just got the vehicle 3 days ago. It was warm outside today, so on my lunch break at work I went to go get food, got in the car to find no AC. This was the first time trying the AC sense I bought the car. The A/C seats were blowing cold air, but not the vents.

I went to Honda, he said the systems are separate. He confirmed the AC was not working. They found out that all the refrigerant was leaking out. He said during manufacturing it must’ve gotten caught on something. Ac system had to be replaced. Under warranty.

Accord EX 1.5L

Just in the first week after I got my BRAND NEW 2018 Accord EX, the A/C is not working!!!! Damn. I was out in the hot weather and got into the car, and guess what, the A/C is giving me HOT air!!!! I did turn on the A/C, turn it to the LOWEST temperature, largest fan. Oh man! I'm dead inside. It's just one week, first 100 miles of the NEW Accord. Hehehe....

And I need to visit the dealership next Monday at 7am!!! And despite the time and energy cost, not sure this problem or any other problem would occur in my next 100 miles of driving.

Oh Accord. You are such a quality car.
