I own a 2018 Honda Accord Sport. About 2-?"3 months ago, the car began having repeated engine misfires (P0301), hesitation, and stalling while driving. At the same time, multiple dashboard warnings appear, including Steering Assist Reduced, Brake System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem, Emission System Problem, and Hill Start Assist Problem, these failures occur suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, creating a serious risk of loss of engine power, reduced braking performance, loss of steering assist, and disabled crash-avoidance systems. I have already performed extensive maintenance: new ignition coils, a full tune-up, compression test, spark test, and battery/alternator check, yet the issues remain. Diagnostic scans also showed U0416-68 (invalid data from ABS/VSA module) in addition to the misfire. This suggests not only a fuel/propulsion defect but also a possible computer/control module failure that links engine, brakes, steering, and ADAS systems. These conditions match known recalls for the Accord, including 23V858000 (fuel pump failure), 20V314000 (low-pressure fuel pump), and 20V771000 (BCM software issue), yet my VIN does not currently show as included. The fact that multiple critical safety systems fail simultaneously makes this a major safety hazard that could easily lead to an accident if the car stalls, loses braking, or loses steering assist in traffic. I opened a case with Honda Customer Service (Case #15868389), but they refused to cover the repair since my VIN is not listed, despite the failures being identical to those described in the recalls. I strongly believe my vehicle should be included, and I request that NHTSA investigate whether the recall VIN range needs to be expanded.

Engine head gasket failed allowing a coolant leakage, which damaged spark plugs and fuel injectors. There is video evidence of this failure provided by the dealership service center. Link to video: [XXX] This occurred at approximately 70k mileage, which is far earlier than a failure like this would be reasonably foreseeable. I see many, many, others online who have had the same failure on my model of car at similar (early) mileages of 70k-90k. My car lost power on the highway, leading to a dangerous driving condition for myself an others. There was no obvious warnings that this would occur. After pulling over and turning off then turning on the car again, the car was intermittently drivable, with clear engine trouble. This car is known for its faulty engine. The head gasket tends to blow as early as 40k miles, plenty of people have had this problem and yet there is no recall for the engine or a fix. I was driving on the highway and i was speeding up to merge into traffic and my check engine light started to flash and my car went into limp mode on the highway luckily there wasn't a lot of traffic and i got the chance to pull over and restart my car. i looked online and plenty of people were experiencing this same problem they all had the same answer as well, a blown head gasket. I'm just wondering if someone has to pass away before this gets fixed.

Car engine overheated while driving and car stalled and was unable to start. Took it to a mechaning and was informed that I had a blown head gasket that may be leaking coolant into the engine internally. Not having the money to fix it I had to slowly drive it home and find alternative solutions. Researching the situation and seeing that this seems to be a reoccurring and common from for 2018-2022 Honda owners and if indeed it is a company defect I would ask for a charge free recall to resolve the head gasket. This has created much stress in my life and financial worry.

Date of Incident: [XXX] Vehicle Information: 2018 Honda Accord VIN: [XXX] Incident Location: North Charleston, SC Estimated Vehicle Mileage at Incident: 78,000 miles On [XXX], while starting and driving my vehicle less than one mile, the engine would not accelerate above 10 MPH. Following this, multiple service alerts illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed to Hendrick Honda of Charleston. The diagnosed issue is a leaking cylinder head gasket. This is the second major engine-related issue this year. In May 2025, I paid over $2,000 to repair a faulty fuel sensor injector. This current repair is estimated to cost over $5,000, bringing my total repair costs for this year to over $7,000 for a five-year-old vehicle with just 78,000 miles. This recurring pattern of significant and costly engine failures, particularly the cylinder head gasket leak, indicates a serious safety defect. It is not an isolated incident, as evidenced by publicly filed NHTSA complaints (ID: 11677717) for the same make, model, and year with similar engine failure issues at comparable mileage. The sudden loss of acceleration and inoperability pose a direct safety hazard. I am requesting an investigation into this defect and seeking full reimbursement for the recent and past repairs, totaling over $7,000. I attempted to start my vehicle's engine normally and the engine made a rough cranking sounded and then finally started. The dashboard displayed multiple warning messages immediately after: Emission system problem/avoid heavy acceleration and high speed/see your dealer, tire pressure monitor system problem/check tire pressure/see your dealer, brake system problem/brake performance may be reduced/see your dealer, brake hold system problem/apply brake when stopped/see your dealer, electric power steering system problem/steering assist reduced/see your dealer, vehicle stability assist system problem/reduced traction and handling/see your dealer, hill start assist problem/vehicle may roll upon brake release/see your dealer, adaptive cruise control system problem/see your dealer, collision mitigation braking system problem/see your dealer, road departure mitigation system problem/see your dealer. I was able to carefully drive and drop off the vehicle at the dealership. The dealership conducted an inspection and found "the check engine light was illuminated due to a misfire in cylinder two. The diagnosis has revealed that this is caused by a bad head gasket, which is allowing a small coolant leak into the cylinder. To address this issue, the technician is recommending the replacement of the cylinder head gasket and spark plugs. Additionally, the technician has noted that the fuel injectors are a known failure point and suggest replacing them as well while the work is being performed." Also, the service employee told me verbally that this is a common issue with the Honda 1.5 turbo engines and they see this all the time. I authorized the replacement of the cylinder head gasket and spark plus since the cost was covered under my existing powertrain warranty with Honda. After a week, the vehicle was released to me and working fine. My safety and the safety of others with a similar engine was put at risk due to no prior warning and the impairment of critical safety systems.

On August 25th 2025 we were driving the vehicle on the freeway at 55 MPH and upon acceleration the vehicle started to decelerate and the check engine light came on. The vehicle would not go over 10 MPH at this point. We took it to the dealership to have the issue addressed. They told us that the issue was a misfire in cylinder #3. They told us the vehicle will need to relearn the firing order and for the next 2 weeks the vehicle was rough idling upon startup. We called the dealership to make an appointment to have that issue addressed and took the vehicle back to the dealership. On September 10 we were told by the dealership the head gasket is blown. We were told that they are seeing that this is becoming a more common issue with the engine of this year model vehicle.

Upon commuting to work, the car failed to accelerate causing the car to almost suddenly stop while driving; at the same time of the failure warning lights and beeping occurred. No warnings prior to failure. By God-??s grace, I was not yet on the expressway and avoided what would have been a horrible accident jeopardizing not only my life but the lives of anyone that would have been behind me. The gasket failed (cylinder #3) and is available for inspection upon request. It was a significant safety issue as the failure occurred without warning causing the car to stop no warning. Yes, the dealer has confirmed the failure and I was quoted a $5800 repair cost in spite of a owning a lifetime power train warranty. No, the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. I did place a call to American Honda and we were given a case #15822812 (but this case has since been closed without action.) No warnings occurred before the failure. (Beeping and messages occurred at the time of failure.) Had the failure occurred at a high rate of speed, on an expressway, loss of life could have occurred and no one would know what caused the accident since cars are usually towed away and declared -??totaled.-?? Fortunately, I was on a road of 35mph but in just a few more minutes would have been at a speed of 65mph. There is a further safety concern that the dealer admits that there is a known problem with the OEM component but plans to continue to replace with the same product. Note: this car has a superior care record and only 110,000 miles which means the failure is likely to occur again with the same parts. Internet searches are confirming this is a known product failure with no recall.

Car has 60,675 miles with a blown head gasket. Prior to blown head gasket vehicle was brought to Honda in April 2025 for overheating, rough start and leaking coolant and was told fuel pump had a recall so it was changed, Honda did the recall repairs, performed oil change and checked everything else and released the car in working order but a week later after adding 175 miles more to the car it started overheating and had a rough start, the car was immediately brought back to Honda and they said it was a blown head gasket, the car was driven home that same day and left in the driveway undriven until September 3rd 2025 when it was towed to a different Honda dealership where it was confirmed to be blown head gasket and the cost is estimated at $6800 to repair. The car has had all recall issues addressed as well as all service and oil changes done to the vehicle, the car is driven for leisure and never in an unsafe or harmful way that could damage a head gasket.

This issue has caused vehicle to go into "limp mode" while on the highway leading to safety concerns. This problem has been confirmed by not only a Honda dealer repair shop but also an independent repair shop and owners. There were not warning prior to the failure. Per the dealership, this is not something that could be caught during regular maintenance and inspections.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that all the warning lights turned off, however the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while the contact's children were inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was unofficially diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was advised to contact the dealer because there was a recall for the fuel pump. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed of a diagnostic fee to perform a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,500.

I currently own a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5L 4 cylinder with only 62,800 miles at the start of the issue. Around the end of July 2025 the car started to jerk. It started with a slight jerk and escalated daily, over about a week, until the car started going into limp mode. The car was taken to a repair shop near my house. This shop said they were receiving an engine misfire code, replaced all spark plugs, and car driving good again. Around 8/15/2025, I started having the same issues. On 8/19/25 the car went into limp mode again in a busy highway. Took it to a Honda/Acura repair shop. They again found the same misfire codes, replaced 1 spark plug, and the car was driving okay. This Honda/Acura shop found low coolant in the engine and believed I had a leaking head gasket as they have been seeing a high number of Honda 1.5L engines, similar years, with this issue. The shop suggested I contact Honda as it is a known issue. On 8/19, the Honda dealer service department told me they are seeing a lot of that issue but Honda has no current plan to extend warranties or issue a recall, despite the widespread, known issue. The dealership-??s service department instructed me to call Honda corporate to discuss the issue and potential coverage. Corporate did open a case for a potential Good Faith repair. I was told that I would have to take it to a Honda dealership for official diagnostics, pay that fee out of pocket, then submit documents and info for coverage review. The car was driving okay for about 1 week and on 8/27/25, began having the same problems. I was able to get an appointment on 9/2/25 at the dealership. On 9/2/25, the dealership confirmed the head gasket is bad and the car requires head gasket, head bolt, belts, fuel injector, and coolant replacement, and oil change. The dealership again acknowledged this is a known issue with the vehicle. These vehicles are stopping on busy highways (with speed limit of 50mph) and interstates or going into limp mode, not going over 20mph.

I was merging onto the freeway and my car went into limp mode. I was lucky enough to pull over to the side because I was on the far right lane. I took the car to the dealer and was told that the car had blown it's head gasket. How can a 2018 honda accord have blown a head gasket so soon? I looked online and many other 2018 honda owners reported the same issues.
