Instead of a check engine light warning that something with the engine was wrong EVERY other warning light came on. Electric Power Steering System , Emmission System, TPMS, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Stability Control, Brake System, Hill Assist. I took it to the dealer and they charged me $87 to run diagnostics on it. They told me it was the fuel injectors.

In addition to the lights, at times the car loses acceleration. If I stop, turn off the ignition, and re-start the engine, the problem goes away. Very frustrating. This is maybe the 7th or 8th Honda I have owned. I was pretty loyal. I'm just trying to get these lights to go off so I can sell it and buy a Toyota.

Vehicle had been stalling and all warning lights coming while driving on 3+ separate occasions during the current week. Eventually, the car would not turn on and was towed to the dealership of purchase. The car was a little over 2 years old and had 38K miles on it. It was at this time I began to seriously consider the idea that perhaps I did get a car that was hurriedly put together on a Friday or possibly before a long weekend. I had suspected it was the fuel injectors like with the other 2018 Honda Accords but my specific VIN is not yet part of the fuel injector/pump recall so the diagnosis was bad gas and the remedy would be to remove gas, replace spark plugs, and service fuel injectors for $1375. But of course, my car is out of Honda's new car warranty and the extended warranty will not cover the repair because it's my fault that I got bad gas and I should file a repair claim with the reputable gas company that I've been using since 2008 without any problems.

I declined the dealership's service, paid for the diagnostic, and told them I will take my car elsewhere. The service advisor said I could not pick up my car because it was disassembled so I told him to hurry and reassemble it because AAA will be there in 20 minutes to take it across the street to their former service manager's shop. I immediately received another call from the dealership asking if I wanted to trade my car in for a new one. The former service manager said my car had random misfire codes on all cylinders, so he replaced the fuel injectors, injector seals, the mass air flow sensor, and the spark plugs. No further issues with stalling, loss of power, or warning lights. After this I decide to only go to the dealership of purchase for oil changes, they have a really good oil change package, and to cancel the extended warranty and get the rest of my money back.

I've owned my 2018 Accord 1.5Turbo since new. This was a new 10th generation accord, and even the sales-rep was surprised it was part of batch number ending in -0001 as he never had seen that before which had me a little worried, but I was paying a premium for quality as the Accord has always been the most expensive sedan in its class. The car has two warranties, a 36K and a 60K warranty, or as I call it the one where nothing important breaks and the other that does not cover anything important. I’ve maintained the car meticulously with oil changed well before the 10K recommended timeframe and as I mainly work from home now, so most of the miles have been accumulated on the highway on road-trips. And by clockwork around 58.6K I got a Christmas tree of check engine lights, and the car started losing power over the next couple of days with a clear indication the lights were not going away.

Fortunately, I was able to drive it to the Honda Superstore of Lisle dealer in IL, and they diagnosed it with P0172 Fuel System Code – Bank 1 failure which means 1 of the 4 fuel injectors has failed. Unfortunately, it was not covered under warranty, and I asked the representative if he could call Honda and ask if they could have been part of a bad batch seeing that it was among the first produced cars of the 10th generation and I believe it had failed way too early. He said no, and that I had to buy a set of 4 fuel injectors with a whopping total fix price of $1,600 which carried only a 12-month warranty! I died inside that day. I realized 3 things: (1) I had never had fuel injectors fail so early on any car cheap or expensive, (2) all the fuel savings would be erased by this very expensive repair on Honda’s very efficient design with catastrophic repair options and prices, (3) after opening a case with Honda I realized they are only there to apologize for my unfortunate problems and would not even bother calling me back unlike the dealership where they kept asking for ‘happy ratings’ and when would I like to make the appointment for repair.

Fool me once, shame on me…

So my software control system error warnings were all going off. I looked up recalls and they said the BCM software needed updating. I took my care in for that update. 3 days later, all the warning lights came back on. I took it back and they diagnosed it as needing new Fuel Injectors and quoted me $1412.00 dollars for repair. I only had 26,000 miles on my car. The warranty only expired 3 months prior. I took it to a second mechanic to verify it needed fuel injectors and he said it did but was shocked. With that low of mileage my car was barely broken in. He said most cars fuel injectors never fail or don't do it until like 80,000 miles or so.

I have opened a case with American Honda. It has been 2 months and I still have not heard anything. I looked up the cost of repairs and fuel injectors only cost in a set of 4 to 6, less than $300. I am really upset that I cannot drive my $32,000 car which is sitting in my driveway. I am more than disappointed that Honda would treat their customers this way. I have done some research and it looks like the fuel injectors are failing in many Accords from 2018. I have used higher grade gasoline and used injector cleaner.
