104 degrees and no air conditioning. Bad! CRV is the best car that was ever made how come Honda can't keep the air conditioner working for 300,000 miles?

For about several months the a/c would stop blowing cold air, then later kicks on. I read there was a class action lawsuit settlement about a bad clutch causing failure. But it wasn't a recall. Finally it quit and luckily only had to replace the compressor. Did not take it too dealership. I am done with that place....and owning Hondas.

This model has been under recall for a/c for the clutch, which I had replaced a year ago. Less than a year later, same symptoms, warm air blowing out of vents. This time it was a switch, then they told me something else in the system needed replaced, cost $1200. It was leaking freon. Now a couple of months later, it is not consistently cooling. They should have replaced the entire system with that recall. I foresee endless problems with this for the remaining life of the vehicle

Had to replace AC compressor after 5 years and 80000 miles and again now at 144000 miles.

No support from Honda customer service, said only the AC clutch was covered by service note but they don't give any assistance for the compressor. Great SUV but the AC issue is awful and sounds like it is a common issue on the CR-V forums and online boards.

Bought my 2008 Honda CR-V brand new in August 2008. In March 2010 I started a 100 mile a day commute. Never had a problem with my CR-V at all till around the 95,000 mile mark. On my way home from work one day, my A/C decided to NEVER work, and instead blow out hot air. I felt like my hair dryer was on. I rolled the windows down and kept trying to get it to work for 50 miles, it never did. Mind you I live in the South, it was pretty horrible. After this one occurrence I randomly had issues with the A/C again.

In Summer 2014 it became a constant issue. We took it to a local mechanic we trusted, and he couldn't really find an issue, so he flushed and topped off the coolant. It worked for a few weeks, and the problem happened again. The mechanic then replaced the compressor, which I believe cost around $1,300, and again the problem was gone for maybe a month before reappearing. It was so odd. No rhyme or reason as to what was happening. The mechanic referred us to a Honda Service Bulletin, but every Honda dealership I called acted liked I had no idea what I was talking about and would brush me off. So we traded it in.

We are now in the market for another small SUV and I won't even consider a Honda after this. I loved that CR-V, but they wouldn't stand behind their issues nor try to help. It made me very upset as I literally had no other issues with the car.

We have a 2008 Honda CR V with 100000 km, 6 years and 2 months now and last year, the AC blowing cold then straight to hot. We took it to Ford service and they told us it was the AC problem and to fix is a lot of money. When I call the local dealer they ask VIN number and then said my "VIN number is not specific" with any recalls or campaigns.

Seems to me the VIN number shouldn't be covered, it should be the compressor. After a while we hear a noise and surfing Internet searching for the cause I find a forum about extended warranty for AC on this model. But when I call the Romanian dealer, Honda Trading, after a long conversation, the answer was

"Dear Mr. Martinescu, Thank you for your message We hereby inform you that the request for the frame no SHSRE57708U030158, warranty start date 30.04.2009, cannot be treated under warranty because the conditions of Honda's service bulletin SK-09-001-04 are not met. The warranty extension is for 6 years in total (3+3) or 160.000 km, whichever comes first. We remain at your service for any additional details. Kind regards,

George Gabrian After Sales Honda Trading Romania

They did not tell us about the extended warranty last year when we ask them and now is too late. Who do I call to complain or try to have them reconsider?

Honda CRV 2008 has been having problems with their Air Conditioner for quite sometime, but Honda Corp.does not want to have this problem as a recall, this is the 3rd. time I have to fix this problem, the first time I paid Honda to fix the A/C $800, Honda reimbursed me after submitting a claim, the second time I had to pay again for the same problem and now I am having the same problem and will see what the Dealership is going to do, but until Honda Corp. does declare that there is a major problem with the A/C system we are not going to get anywhere, there are a large amount of Honda CRV owners with the same complaint on the internet.

CR-V EXL 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,524 miles

My CR-V has been a fairly reliable vehicle except the batteries (I've had 3!) seem too small for the vehicle and if the radio is listened to when the key is in the ACC position, it seems like the battery drains fairly rapidly and then won't have the power to turn the starter. This has happened 3 times. The compass in the rear view mirror (Optional) no longer works reliably except for when I hit the mirror several times and it seems to dislodge something that allows the display to read correctly.

On the positive side honda reimbursed as it concluded a year later it was a common problem. Took almost a week due to lack of parts....many other cars in for same issue...also over 100* heat wave.
