About two years ago I replaced the tires on my CR-V with new Firestones. When I drove it afterwards, I immediately felt a vibration that I didn't have before, not just in the steering wheel but in my butt too. Took it back to Firestone; they rebalanced the tires, drove it and said "OK, it's fixed". I still felt the vibration, but they didn't. Took it back several times, had them align it, remove, replace, and rebalance the tires. They drove it with me, said they couldn't feel a vibration although I could. So I took it to the Honda dealer where I had bought the car new. They said "yes, there's a vibration and it's caused by the front axles being worn out. Okay, they replace the axles ($800+), but I still feel a vibration. They balance the wheels again, no help. They change the transmission fluid! - no help. I can feel the vibration but they can't. It's especially obvious on really smooth roads.

I need to keep the car for another year or two -- it only has 113,000 miles and is in good shape otherwise. The tires are not worn out, but I'm thinking I might just go ahead and replace them anyway, this time with Bridgestones or Michelins. But I'm wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem and found a solution. I don't want to just keep throwing money at it.
