CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at 20-25 MPH, the brakes applied inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped and the steering wheel locked temporarily. The contact did not recall whether there was a warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that it was a normal activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) due to something in the road; however, the contact stated that there was nothing around the vehicle at the time the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) being activated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Honda Of Princeton (987 US-206, Princeton, NJ 08540) who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to page 24 of the vehicle manual for information on how to deactivate the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) as necessary. The failure mileage was approximately 18150. The first incident happened on 9/24/19. There was a second incident date right around 3/16/20. Again, there was nothing in the road that would account for the braking system to be activated. Consumer reported this to Honda of Princeton took the car in for regular maintenance the following month (May 2020 )-?" they were unable to duplicate the failure.

Driving down a street at about 30 miles per hour just after a rain event and the sun was now shining. Approached a railroad crossing that had a dip in the road before going over the crossing, when I went through the dip the car auto braked and brought us to a dead stop. Fortunately no one was behind us.

I was driving and my ABS engaged without any one or anything in front of my vehicle. I was traveling at 40mph, suddenly the "BRAKE" visual illuminated on my dashboard and before I even knew what was happening my vehicle came to a complete stop. Thankful no injuries and no one was behind me. I took it to the dealership for inspection, and they said there was nothing they could do to address the 'fluke' issue and that no errors would be found on a diagnostic scan. There wouldn't be any error codes if the SUV's automatic breaking system engaged, because the car must of 'seen something' that caused it to react this way.

The forward collision sensor basically completely freaked out for no reason at all and when I applied the brakes to try to slow down and get off the road, the anti lock braking system activated and I could not slow the car down. Thankfully I was not near any other cars or obstacles or I would have been involved in an accident. I took the car to the dealer to be checked out and they were not able to replicate the issue. There were no prior warnings or messages before this happened, it was completely random and has happened several times.

While driving, my vehicle suddenly braked, this has happened at least twice. The first time there was construction and a platform on the road. My vehicle detected it and suddenly forcefully breaked. The second time, a vehicle breaked in front of me, but not completely, my vehicle forcefully breaked and stopped.

Numerous times the automatic braking has applied. Sometimes, only a -??brake -?? indicator light flashing on the dash. Other times hard braking has occurred. This has typically occurred when passing under a bridge, and the shadow of the roadway above has fooled the car into thinking it is an obstruction in the road. It does not have to be an exceptionally sunny day for this to occur. I have taken the car to the dealer on several occasions and complained about this. They claim that it is from an obstruction on the windshield. This is not true. The windshield was exceptionally clean the last time I took it to the dealer, immediately after one of these instances. I am afraid I-??m going to get rear ended, or provoke someone into a road rage, thinking that I brake checked them.

10 warning messages appear on the dashboard simultaneously. This has happened about 10 times now and has been viewed by an independent repair shop. The failures involve the breaking system, TPMS, power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and road departure. All of the 10 failures occurred when the temperature was below 40 degrees. They all were cleared after warming up in my garage overnight. When the warning messages appear, none of the systems are operational causing major safety concerns. I have a log of each occurrence and a video of the dashboard when the vehicle is started with the failures. Also, I am writing to alert you of this because there are many others who have experienced the same problems as I found after doing some on-line research. Please feel free to contact me about any other details.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving on a local street at approximately 40 MPH, her vehicle had intermittently slammed on the brakes. The contact stated that the brake light had illuminated for about 3 seconds, and the brakes had released themselves. The contact stated that there was not a crash and no one was hurt because there was no other vehicle behind or in front of her when the failure occurred. The contact stated that she then drove her vehicle to the dealer who performed a terminal reset on her vehicle, and advised her that there was nothing wrong with her vehicle. The contact stated that in the past the brake light would illuminate, however it never caused her vehicle to slam on the brakes. The contact stated that she contacted the manufacturer, and they were not able to assist. The contact stated that upon doing her own research, she found many complaints concerning the same year, make, and model experiencing the same failure as she experienced with her vehicle. The mileage failure was 40,000.

My CRV TOURING 2018 has a little over 23,000 miles. I started the car and all of the safety lights come on as malfunctioning. I could not get the vehicle to back up out of the garage. I never put the brakes on. I finally was able to get it out of the garage and to the dealership. Two of the personnel at the dealership said they had never seen that many lights on the dash come on and some they had never seen. This is the second battery that has been put into the car and the charge was good. The car was looked at for several hours. They did not know what was wrong and reset the system some how and I went home. The paperwork said I told them the car was hard to start which I never said. Three days later upon starting the car all of the same lights and warnings came on. This time I was able to back up with no issues. I went straight to the dealer and asked them to do an ECU check. They said it could be the fuel injectors; however could not guarantee that would solve the problem with all the lights coming on. Had the car all day and came back with about 7 codes. I had to ask what the codes were as they had not been written down on my statement. I wrote them down and looked them up that night. Two of them were under warranty. The mechanic did not know the two codes were under warranty and did not look into it further. I took the car in for the third time and had the codes updated and checked. One was for the injectors which they said failed. The other was a check for spark plugs, etc. to help eliminate the source of problem. Again, they said the problem was the injectors and the cost to repair would be $2,200. I have requested a Good Will Repair which was over three weeks ago. Honda North America said the District Manager would be handling it and then I was told that the District Manager would let the Service Manager at Honda dealership handle it. That person has not returned my calls. I am not driving my car much and really need it badly.

I was driving straight in an open street, no obstacles at all. However, my vehicle started beeping and slammed the brakes to a complete stop. I was almost thrown out of my seat but thank god I had my seatbelt on. I checked my dash camera footage aswell no sign of obstacle, nothing at all. I believe its the collision mitigation braking system that got activated for no reason. I have my dash cam footage to support my claim.

I was driving 40mph up beach blvd. No traffic immediately near me. The forward collision avoidance system beeped and flashed brake brake brake. Without cause the car stopped suddenly. This is the second reported incident with this same car in less than a year. I immediately called Honda dealership. No recalls or probable cause. After last incident, there were some new updates installed on the car. Told I would never have any more issues - a freak occurrence. My fear is that it will happen again with a semi behind me. This safety feature may very well be deadly.

This is the 3D time multiple sensor warnings have appeared: TPMS/acc/brake/downhill assist/lane departure/etc.. warnings. The dealer (brandon hinda) just resets codes with no reason for recurring problem. Reserach shows many have similar problems reported to hinda and there is a class action lawsuit pending alleging 2016-2019 Honda CR-V safety systems are defective; filed in us district court for the central district of California; ward, et al., vs. American Honda motor co., Inc. Et al. Vehicle was stationary when problem noticed.
