Similar complaint to Charles and Patti, the car jerks when I accelerate from a stop. Usually from a stop sign where I only came to a brief stop and not after I've been sitting at a red light. This car definitely has problems accelerating, it doesn't start to accelerate until 30mph so it's very whimpy. I don't know if this is something that I should be concerned about, or if it's really just me, being "tough" on the brake (on a whimpy car). Or maybe the ECO button being activated has something to do with it? I'm not too worried but I think it's definitely something worth looking into.

Civic LX 1.8L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,800 miles

This Civic ran perfect until appox. 3,800 miles, then it began to stumble or stall when pulling away from a stop sign or red light. [VERY BAD FEELING WHEN TRAFFIC IS BEARING DOWN ON YOU AND YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF THEIR WAY]. Seven times back to the dealer for a total of 27 days and I'm being told that the problem is with me. I'm told that I must be touching the brake pedal when this happens which causes what they call "BRAKE OVER-RIDE" to come into play. I was told by the general manger to take my business somewhere else, don't come back, there wasn't anything else they could do because all of their tests showed that there was nothing wrong with the car.

I tried to swap this car for another one and pay a difference but it was clear that the dealer didn't want this car either because he told me the amount he wanted above trading this one in and I was shocked. The Civic had appox. 4,500 miles and all of a sudden it's worth less than half of what I paid for it. After talking with the service writers, assist. service manager, the service manager, general manger, Honda Corp. in Ca.,and their dispute center in MI. I am trying make up my mind on what to do about this death trap. My options seem to be trade it off and hope the next owner doesn't get killed or hurt in it, keep it and hope I don't get hurt in it, or seek legal action through the court system.

Thanks for letting me vent.
