Odyssey EX 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

Suddenly the a/c just blow hot air. Had it replaced with a used compressor ($650) w/o warranty, and started experiencing not so cold air blowing. Brought it in for a/c check and freon refill ($40) after several months. Same problem repeated at the height of next summer, and temporarily patched the problem with freon refill & dye for leak check ($65). Same problem again some months later. Diagnostic recommended the leak cannot be repaired and need to replace with a new compressor ($900). After a month, took it for a long trip (500 miles) and a/c failed again. Brought in for diagnostic and found out compressor still full with freon (no leak), but no electricity coming into the compressor. Paid $130 for troubleshooting the problem and found out the electrical plug came loose, because of bad workmanship by last repair man (the cable was routed incorrectly and came loose because it was strung tight). The problem is fixed for now, and a/c is working again. This problem has burned a big hole in my wallet. Unbelievable!
