CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 and 2015 Honda Odyssey shows an early trend of transmission problems with clunking/jerking when shifting gears.

Most of these Odyssey transmissions are still under warranty, but so far Toyota generally hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the clunking problem — that's the reason for our low rating. Some owners have reported it was a stuck solenoid, & in a few cases Honda has replaced the entire transmission.

As more of these Odysseys start exceeding the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, buyer beware.

The paint has bubbled and peeled from the top of my car in large flakes. I have 4 places greater than approx 6x5 inches where the bare metal is exposed. This should not happen, and I not no one in my family has ever had this happen with their cars.

Pearl white paint peeling to expose the primer on the door, hood, roof, tailgate and the edge of the gas tank door. The recall expired in 2019 and I was never notified about the paint recall. I found out in 2021 when I took the van into the dealer to repair mechanical recalls because I had to ship the vehicle out to Hawaii. The dealer took pictures and sent a claim to Honda, but it was denied. Honda customer service was no help at all and could only direct me to a dealer, which I believe the dealer did what the could by taking pictures and submitting an estimate and claim on my behalf.

We have a pearl white Odyssey. The paint has peeled off 2 times, and we are told it is not covered! I have seen and heard of issues with this same paint on other Honda vehicles. Honda knows there is an issue with the paint on these vehicles! they should fix this instead of the customer, since they are aware of the issue since the beginning of manufacture of the vehicles that have this paint on them! now we have a car that we want to keep for a while but we need to keep spending funds to keep it looking nice, when Honda should be covering a known flaw. Also, the transmission has constant hesitation when doing regular driving. It like it cant find a gear.

Our paint is pealing off the roof between the windshield and moonroof. This is most likely going to be covered by Honda. We previously had pealing on our hood and had it repaired at our own cost. Honda refused to pay for it. Clearly they have a paint issue by the recall/warranty on the roof/back door paint, how would only those parts be affected? they need to repaint, and or reimburse all of the people affected.

2014 Honda Odyssey power door does not seem to latch all of the way. 80% of the time when the door is opened, a popping sound can be heard. When the door is opened it is always in a stationary position. I have concerns the door will open involuntarily while in motion.

We bought the van brand new from a Honda dealership in charlotte nc. About two years after we bought it we started to see the paint peel in the back near the window. We contacted Honda and was told it was out of warranty. Today there are probably 4 large areas where the paint is coming off.

Our 2014 diamond white pearl Honda Odyssey has a factory paint defect called delamination. The paint started peeling off in sheets / large sections from the roof in January 2019 and then the tailgate in February 2019. The white paint base coat is cleanly separating from the ed primer. American Honda usa refuses to take ownership of the problem and actually trying to state this is owner wear & tear? they need to pay for this defect 100% and Honda needs to admit this is a wide spread problem affecting all newer white Honda's like 2016 hrv, 2015 Pilot, fits & Odyssey, 2014 Pilot & Odyssey, 2013, 2012 etc etc. Anything white from Honda and even Acura, made in their usa & Mexico factories. Cbs 2 los angeles no has an open and ongoing investigation as well: Https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/video/program/1200/4059251-2-on-your-side-peeling-car-paint/ all we want is Honda usa to cover this defect 100%, and if they continue to sell these white Honda's to owners not letting them know the paint will only last between 3-5 years they are practicing in consumer fraud. Industry standard is for a cars paint to last a minimum of 10 years under normal use.

The paint started peeling off in the area above the windshield in the 3rd year of ownership. The dealership (Honda of clear lake) did not consider that as warranty when the issue was pointed out to them. An independent quote for fixing the paint (pearl white) was well over $2000. Given that this is a relatively new car, Honda must own up the issue and do this paint related fix free of charge, on doing a search on Odyssey owners fora, I noted that there are similar issues with the model.

Both automatic sliding doors failed. When opened manually, the drives side sliding door completely popped out and fell off. The vehicle was stationary in a parking garage and had not been used for 8 days. I do not know what component broke to cause this. Attached picture is our best attempt to put the door back on.

Despite keeping up with the required maintanence, I had to have the transmission rebuilt at 100K miles. Shifts very hard when I'm in traffic- lurches. Huge spot of paint peeling off the back (since ineasnt the original owner Honda wouldn't fix it) paint is now starting to chip heat the chrome on. Both doors.

While traveling northbound on mountain view corridor at approximately 55 mph the sunroof in my 2014 Honda Odyssey exploded. I have traveled this road many times, it was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and light traffic. I bought this Odyssey new. It currently has just over 69,000 miles on it. There were no homes, businesses, parking lots, or anything of the kind around me. No overpasses, power lines or otherwise. There is no explanation for the explosion. I heard a loud pop that I thought was a gunshot or large something hitting my car. I pulled off the road, turned on my hazards, and felt something hit my arm. I looked up to see that the sunroof had shattered. I've never heard of anything like this before. After reading online that many others had had similar experiences I felt like I needed to report it in hopes that others might not have to have the same scary experience (which could have ended much worse), inconvenience, and expense.

While driving on the highway at approx. 55 mph, I heard a clicking sound and a hissing wind sound coming from the windshield on the front passenger side. It felt like the windshield was being pulled up and you could see the edge of the windshield molding flapping in the wind. Also, the front passenger door side window was moving back and forth hitting the window frame.

The rear passenger door on the driver's side does not close properly. It constantly re-opens after pressing the close button or using the handle and must be forced closed manually from the outside of the vehicle. It has gotten progressively worse with time. We try to not use that door which is a safety concern as that is the door closest to me for my children to use. And the other day when my daughter accidentally forgot and used that door, I shut it and we went on to our errands, when we returned to the van the door was wide open, obviously it automatically opened as we left. It is a huge safety issue. I have contacted Honda corporate and they have refused to do anything as it is out of warranty. At 4 years old this should not happen. My last Honda oddessey was a 2009, it did the same thing, aaa had to come one day while I was stuck at the gym and could not get it to close. They had to cut the wires on the door to close it. Now that this has happened twice, I have done a little research online and seen this is a common problem. It is a safety issue and should be handled by a recall.
