CarComplaints.com Notes: We're not used to seeing any major problems with Hyundai, which makes the early signs of trouble with the 2013 Elantra very surprising, in a bad way.

Early trends show problems with the steering wandering / pulling to one side along with premature tire wear. Elantra owners have tried sensor adjustments, wheel alignments, even replacing axles, most with no luck. Hyundai has made vehicle buybacks through arbitration, but that rarely works out well financially for owners in the end.

Also there is a pattern of complaints about the 2013 Elantra brakes grinding at very low mileage. It seems there was a bad batch of OEM pads & rotors, but so far Hyundai is not doing a recall. Instead Hyundai issued a TSB & dealers have been replacing pads & rotors on a per-complaint basis.

The final straw is that for several years in a row, Elantra owners report significantly lower gas mileage than the EPA estimates, & there's a small trend of engine problems.

Dealership said brakes need servicing. So when I went to switch my summer to snow tires, I noticed all new parts in the front and rear brake sections. All these new parts were apparently supposed to stop the squealing which it did not. So basically Hyundai charged me to repair their issue with squealing brakes on these cars, yet it cured nothing. Will never take car back to dealers again, unless a warranty recall which is rare because dealerships always say nothing is wrong with the car or you just have to get used to it. Grinding brakes makes me feel very unsafe in this vehicle as they obviously are not working correctly. Brake pedal never feels firm.

I leased this car starting in September 2012. The brake, squeak and several other problems have been there almost since day one. The dealer never found anything wrong and I believed them. That is, until I had an oil change done some where else. The techs there picked up on it immediately.

This same dealer sends out their vehicles to another shop for inspection. That shop failed to notice a frozen rotor, rear right and 4 tires worn down to wear bars. They put a star inspection sticker on it and sent it back to me.

Hyundai is Korean for "A PIECE OF JUNK YOU CAN BUY THEN LIVE WITH YOUR POOR CHOICE OF VEHICLES".

Update from Jun 23, 2015: Brake squeal and steering wanders all over the road.

Tustin Hyundai poor service called with more complaints on my NEW Elantra 2013 to add now to the squeak in the brakes. Said service manager Gary would call me back. 6days later I AM the one calling back to ask wtf. Said Hyundai Corp knows but I was NOT called to let me know ANYTHING.

Found out the Bluetooth THEY know about but do not know when this will be fixed. I drive all over and use my BLUETOOTH, it needs fixed ASAP. This is a legal issue and unsafe. Said cannot do that. Mileage piss poor I get 23 25 23 25 23 25 every time I fill up. They did road test. It shows 36.8 of which I HAVE NEVER SEEN ON MY DASH FOR AVG MPGS. I have kept all my receipts to show them. They do not care. The GM even said he would call and I never heard from him.

This WAS the car I wanted but now want to take a hammer to the thing in front of their dealership. I hate driving it. The AC I have to turn off if I am stopped at a red light due to the car vibrating so bad I think it will stall out.......it is a p of sh...Hate this car.
