My engine shut off on me while driving down the interstate. There was no acceleration, brakes, or power steering. I was pushed across two traffic lanes, into a guard rail, and ended up in the right lane facing northbound in a southbound interstate exit. This happened on September 23, 2018. I have not been able to drive the car since, because I do not trust it!

Hyundai had the car for 1.5 months and told me they could not find any defect, and the accident was "likely due to wet roads." A third party mechanic found a failing sensor and a code, but it is not enough to bring to Hyundai? The code is not able to be searched, and Hyundai can't say what It means over the phone, that I need to bring it in to scan it again. (They had the car for 1.5 months....)

There are other cases on forums similar to this with Elantras. Their stories of engines stalling, yet "nothing they can do about it" because "there is no code or detectable manufacturers defect."

I do not want to trade it in, for the safety of the new owner and the community. This is my only option? Doesn't feel fair. I will loose all the money I have put into it over the past year and a half, and be upside down in my next loan for a car that is not safe to be driven by anyone! Yet it is being kept on the hush so Hyundai doesn't lose?!

Am I supposed to keep driving this car and have the same issue while driving in 6 o clock traffic and cause a fatal pileup? Hit a pedestrian? This is too risky for me to drive. Again, just as dangerous for someone else to be driving, and unfair since they are not even aware of the issue.

On top of that I haven't had a car since September 23, 2018, yet still having to pay full coverage, and my deferments stop from the loaner on March 15, 2019.

What are my options?
