CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2019 Cherokee is racking up engine complaints for suddenly shutting down while driving. But the problem could possibly be related to the increasingly defective 9-speed transmission which suffers from hard shifts, lurching problems, and a wiring harness defect that can cause sudden shutdowns or an unexpected shift into neutral.

problem #2

Nov 012019

Cherokee High Altitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

In November this car with less that 300 miles was back at the dealership when it also developed a surge in power and a fluctuating engine revving... it spent a month at the dealership before they could determine what the problem was.

That problem may have been solved but the acceleration is still a concern of ours which we need to live with for another 2-years which is the remainder of our lease.

problem #1

Nov 202018

Cherokee Limited V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 1,052 miles

Started with clunking noises when depressing gas pedal when vehicle is already in motion. Then the vehicle started lurching when coming to a stop, the engine would rev up for split second trying to over power the brakes. Sometimes when sitting at traffic light the vehicle would try to suddenly lurch. This would happen more often when the Auto Start/Stop was disabled. Currently at the dealership awaiting repairs after having it for a week now without any answers to the problem.
