CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.
It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Bought this fine piece of machinery in Sept 2015. I love this truck and I am not one to love trucks. It had every option available from Jeep and I loved every minute of it. Living in central NY, I took full advantage of the remote starter every morning this winter. My routine was to open the big garage door as a vent and start the car with the remote start, go back in the house to collect my daughter and our things for the day and leave. Well on March 1st, when we went back into the garage to get into the car, it was in flames.
I turned off the auxiliary mode and although we tried to put the fire out ourselves, we could not. The car and the entire (attached) garage and everything in it went up in flames. Thankfully we were not hurt. Thankfully the core of my house was not burnt. Unfortunately, my awesome truck was history.
The investigators cannot identify the root cause of the issue but the remote starter only activates certain things, not everything and it is clear from the giant hole in the hood where the fire generated from so I am not pleased. In any case, chalk to up to faulty wiring or whatever- anyway you slice it- its no bueno.
