CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

In the last few days

1. Car Stalled when decelerating for no reason AGAIN!!! I was told there are 7 sensors that could possibly make the car stall randomly And the dealer will not replace all 7 but they have no ability to pinpoint the reason for the stalling

2. When using Adaptive Cruise Control car beeped loudly and AGAIN slammed on the brakes FOR NO REASON. No cars in sight, nice sunny day

3. Service FWD flashes comes on and stays on

4. Service Air Suspension comes on and stays on

5. Automatic High Beams turn on and off all by themselves flashing on the dash the new status

6. Door unlock changed its settings to only unlock 1 door all by itself

7. Car beeps loudly out of nowhere

8. Adaptive cruise control stopped working AGAIN!!!

9. When shifting from Park to Drive random warnings pop up on the dash (See attached Video)

Hi, I am not sure who can help me with this.

Please read my complaint below. This is not to say the service department is not trying, They are great to work with.

Just that things are not getting resolved after years of complaining of same many problems.

How can this issue be elevated to someone who has the ability to fix the problem?

  1. Car has died AGAIN!!! a. I have reported this on numerous other service visits b. It died as I decelerated on an off ramp today It has died on the Dumbarton bridge 2 times & at stop lights numerous times Usually happens when decelerating c. Power steering stops working, making car hard to control, dangerous d. Car will not restart until you put car in park & step on the brake Dangerous being stopped on an off ramp while cars fly off of the freeway Dangerous stopping in the middle of the Dumbarton bridge

  2. It happens every few hundred miles But never happens when service guy drives it (I expect this)

  3. Every time I am told that the on board computed does not report any problems & that it generally will not report stalls of this type

  4. Every time I am told that nothing similar is reported in the world wide Jeep service database (This is impossible to believe that or the database is seriously lacking) I know of other Grand Cherokee owners that have complained of the same exact issue

  5. Jeep database has no record of it.. Yet if I google it I find THOUSANDS of similar complaints are reported Here is just one of them.

How My JGC 2000 Was Fixed With Same Exact Problem - All, I had this unexpected stall issue happen on my JGC 2000 and was able to resolve it. It's been 7-8 years since it was fixed. Before that, no mechanic could figure it out. One day, the stalls were so bad I couldn't make it up the block. Anyway, made it to my mechanic and explained what happened. He connected the OBD-C reader but no code was pulled. Nothing. Then, I remembered that Jeep has built in way to pull code by turning ignition key to power but not initiating starter. Did it three times in a row. Behold! The code appeared and mechanic said code was transmission crankshaft position sensor (CPS). He replaced it and car started and stayed on. Remember I said I could barely make it down the block. Still running all these years. This CPS sensor piece plus labor came out to $120.00 dollars. As I said, haven't had one single stall since then(Currently Feb. 2017). Hope this helps you all. :-) And many many more of the same problem with multiple results (Maybe Jeep should rely on Google instead of their database) 6. The other problem I have, is that out of the blue The Adaptive cruise control will SLAM ON THE BRAKES for no apparent reason It does on clear blue sky days with no cars in sight on the open highway No rocks being thrown up by other vehicles No signs, guard rails, no dust in sight

  1. Sometimes it slams them on hard and beeps loudly Other times it breaks less hard

  2. I have check the sensor many times after the events And I never see anything to indicate it has hit a bug and is dirty

  3. When these events happen it causes panic in both the driver and passengers Scary as hell AND Dangerous
