CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.2L V6

They originally told me that it was the cylinder head issue and that it was under extended warranty, then they said only the left lifters and rotors were under warranty and that it was the right side that had a bad lifter, so after several weeks I had to pay to get it fixed.

I'm just wondering how one side is affected and not the other?

They did tell me that several of jeep/dodge motors made in Mexico had a lot of problems from 2012 til 2018. Any ideas on how I can get my money back? I'm not sure the dealership is honest.

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I love Grand Cherokee's. I had a V8 in the late 90's and those were cool cars. So, several other cars later I decided to buy this 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L Hemi which is also Trail Rated. It's beautiful with full options, sound and drives beautiful. I bought it with only 22K miles on it, but I realized later that it had 3 owners?! Anyway, I didn't care because it's a sweet car.

I began hearing a rattling noise in the engine when the car was in higher gears (5th, 6th?) going up hill. This means there is a camshaft issue and could be really bad if I ignore it. I bought the car from Carmax and also purchased their extended warranty. They confirmed the problem, however mentioned that I should go to Jeep to look at the power train since it was still covered by the Jeep warranty. I haven't gone yet, but just wanted to make this a record first before I go.
