A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Few days ago I found this website and wrote about the rattling, ticking noise that have been building up on my 2013 Kia Sorento. I was so worried when I read other complaints and how their engines died while they were driving. Oh well the worse I feared happened few days later on Friday (08/28/20). I was driving on Rt 295 from Rt 55 going 65-70mph. I heard the noise louder than it has been days and hours earlier. Few minutes later, the rattling sound turn into a rapid knocking sound and then it lost power, I mean no acceleration. Thankfully, I maneuvered between cars and I got on the side of the road with my heart pounding with fear as cars beeping their horns passed by. When the car came to a full stop, the knocking sound was so loud I thought it was going to explode. I had gone to the Kia dealership in Burlington few days ago and they told me the engine was bad and it will just get worse. That the car needed a new engine. With no warranty nor recall for this problem, I'm left with a handful of problems that may build up to God-knows-what...I thought KIA (SORENTO) WAS A RELIABLE CAR!!!

I WANT TO FREAKING SCREAM AND HOLD A SIGN AT THE CROWN DEALERSHIP IN ST. PETE, FL. I HAVE THE SORENTO EX 2013 THAT I PAID CASH FOR IN OCT, 2012. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS SO CALLED NEW VEHICLE. I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS FISHY WHEN IT CAME FROM THE BACK OF BUILDING AND HAD WHITE X ON THE TOP LEFT OF BACK WINDOW. I ASKED ROBERTO WAS ANYTHING WRONG AND WHY IT WAS IN THE BACK. HE SAID NOTHING.

WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I WENT BACK TO TALK ABOUT AN ISSUE AND HE WAS GONE FROM THAT BUSINESS. I GUESS HE DIDN'T FEEL GOOD WITHIN HIS SOUL AND HEART TO TAKE MY $$ AND KNEW SOMETHING WASN'T LEGIT WITH THIS SALE. THE MANAGER LEFT SHORTLY WOW! SOMETHING WAS GOING ON WITH THAT CROWN KIA ON 54TH AVE NO. I WISH I HAD TAKEN MY CASH MONEY SOMEWHERE PROMISING AND DON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE AND SELL CUSTOMERS LEMONS.

THIS MUST HIT THE UPPER CORPORATION IN CALIFORNIA WHOM I CALLED BECAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS OFF I NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH/ACCIDENT/FENDER BENDER.THEN I PAID $50 TO BE PUT ON MACHINE AT CROWN. NOW LISTEN TO THIS, THEY GAVE ME THE MONEY BACK BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T PIN POINT THE PROBLEM, LIARS!

THE ENGINE THEN AND THEY KNEW THE DATES 2012-2014 SORENTO HAD ENGINE FAILURE, A SCAM IS GOING ON THEN LIE TO KEEP FROM CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE $$ TO REPAIR A ENGINE AND TAKE CARE OF MY OTHER BILLS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SOME TYPE OF CLASS ACTION SUIT TO PAY FOR KNOWINGLY NOT ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM THAT SO MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING.. Sorento LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

2013 Kia Sorento, stalled and check engine light came on. Started hard, 6 - 8 times before it would start.

Scanned it and got P0014 code - cam position advanced, system performance.

Took it to the dealer, diagnosis is "You need a new engine" for $6,100".Claims there is metal in the engine, lower engine knocks. Not covered under warranty because I don't have oil change receipts. I changed the oil and filter regularly every 10k miles with Mobile One synthetic.

Not sure what to do. Sounds like from research that Kia has had oil flow issues in the past that caused damage to engines....don't know what to do.

Sorento 2.4L Gdi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,500 miles

My wife was in a minor fender bender and when in for repair Geico called and said the engine had a loud knock and metal shavings on the dipstick. Sent to Kia of Bowie and they have been terrible to deal with, they won't cover a rental and even with oil changes every 6000 miles instead of the recommended 7500 (dc area traffic) they are still saying we have to see if Kia is going to cover this. Huge nightmare to deal with Kia.

Once this piece of junk is repaired I will be trading it in and never dealing with Kia again.

Sorento

  • Automatic transmission

Was driving vehicle and noticed a soft rattle noise when accelerating. Proceeded to get on the highway and drive about 50 miles. When I got off the highway, the noise was significantly louder. Had to tow vehicle more than 40 miles to dealership. After the dealership had the vehicle for a few days (Saturday thru Tuesday), they finally told me they found "metal contaminates" that were causing the problem and they were instructed by the warranty company to replace the engine. I'm told this will take about a week.

In the meantime, I am driving a rental. Originally they were only going to pay for the rental from the time they contacted me about the diagnosis, which was on Wednesday, which was two days after I had to go pick one up myself. I had to get a little firm with them before they agreed to pay from the time I'd gotten the rental myself.

Will update with final resolutions when all is said and done.
