Took my car in for inspection sticker & was told the whole frame was rotted/rusted out so bad he didn't even recommend I drive it off the lot. Having a small child I was afraid to drive it & immediately went out to purchase another vehicle.

As I was leaving work I made to right turn to head towards the highway when I heard low pop from the rear of my vehicle. Then the vehicle started to pull to the right so I pull off onto the shoulder. I look underneath the vehicle and notice that rear axel had separated from the from. I didn't feel safe in putting that vehicle back on the road so I call for a tow.

1959 Nissan, Pathfinder rotted frame. Did not know that there was a manufacturer problem with these vehicles. I went to get my muffler system replaced and was told not to spend the money because the frame was completely rotted and was unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection in June. He then proceed to put his hand through the rot in the different areas of the frame. I was told if I were to hit a pot hole that would be the end of the car. The car did not have any rot on the body-was in excellent running condition and always replacing anything that needed to-was always taken care of. That's when I was told that this was a defect that Nissan knew about but never did anything or notified any owner about it. I was not able to take anyone in the car with me after this in fear that I would have an accident and someone would get hurt. I was forced to buy another car before by June inspection or would no vehicle at all.

The truck frame has stress fractures and indications that it would critically fail in an accident. Most decay is from within the frame so there are little signs it is occurring. Once I began hammering on the frame a three foot long hole was created. After checking the internet, it seems this is common to almost all trucks in corrosion prone areas of the country. I would expect this to be a high risk for rear passengers. There have been reports of failure when driving. I am unsure if there have been accidents or injuries.

I own a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder xe with undercarriage frame rot. I paid $500 to have one section repaired but the remainder of the frame is in jeopardy of rotting as well. The truck still runs fine with 125,000 on it and I want to keep it but I believe Nissan should issue a safety recall. Nissan should either repair the frame or reimburse me the money I've paid. This is clearly a design flaw.

Defect-the frame above rear wheels is rusted out to the point of imminent failure. I fortunately was alerted to this possibility by another Pathfinder owner and uncovered the fist sized holes in the frame above the rear suspension. Had I not been looking for it this could have led to a horrific crash. In speaking to frame repair specialists and other Pathfinder owners I have found that this is a very common problem in the 93-95 model years.

I am submitting this complaint for a friend, it concerns a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, and whose frame is rusting out, to the point that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. The frame on both sides of the truck, at the rear wheels has rusted away more then 50%. after doing some research on the internet I find this to be a common complaint with other owners of this vehicle, and includes multiple years. I believe that Nissan should be held responsible for the faulty manufacturing on this frame. Thank you
